Summary: A brief review of "Drainage possibility of granular
materials forpavement structure bases" scientific programme is presented.
Thefirst results of research of granular composites permeabilityrelated to
their grain size distribution and applied energy forspecimen compaction
have been shown.
For analysis a "bulk characterization model" was used, whichseems to be
more convenient and more realistic then widely used"mass characterization
model".

Summary: A study of potentional materials from Republic of Croatia
area provided for granular road bases construction, for new croatian
specification purposes, was made. Some requirements at the old JUS U.E9.020
standard from 1966 year are out of date and besides, they are based on
materijals from whole former Yugoslavia. Within the borders of the Republic
of Croatia, potential materials are determined more in detail, so their
characteristic had to be studied integrally in order to establish some
relevant requirements at the new croatian specifications as realistic as
possible. An overwiev at existing and potential stone quarries as well as
gravel pits was made. Applying possibilities at some industrial materials
were considered too. Tables with physic - mechanical properties and
gradations at materials were prepared. On the basis at these data some
changes at existing specifications requirements were suggested.
