Summary: The objektive of the research is to investigate the
stability ofretaining walls made of stone without mortar, which are found
inold roads such as the Via Ludoviceae, near 200 years old. Themultiple
increase of motor wehicle traffic, as well as erosion, brought the roads to
the limit of usuability with frequentdestruction. A metodology for
establishing the safety along theroad will be elaborated by parallel
static and dynamic analisysof retaining walls on profiles with known cross
section.
Keywords: Gravity wall, rock, road, stability, dinamic load.
Research goals: The objective is to find the stability of stone
walls without mortar in old mainroads-by measuring the response to the
dynamic excitation. Since for those walls we usually have no information
about the dimensions of the cross-section, embankments and foundations, it
is not possible to performe the static control of the stability. Endeavours
will be made in order to find out the reliability of the retaining walls
from the shape of oscillations. At the end a systematic list of measures of
impruvement will be made-together with the analysis of the mutual action. Other information about the project.
