    Summary: At the time when various changes have been made in town plan, Zagreb's northern belt, which is topographically specific, has not been especially regulated. This area, where hills and troughs rhythmically interchange, streets that developed were of types: H-on ridges, U-in troughs, NK-on slopes. An analysis of the current General Urban Plan shows that there is no essential difference between the three northern areas, 1.c, 2.c and 2.d (defined without clear criterion), nor betwen the treatment of the lots for three possible types: free standing, semi-detached and row houses. The plan regulates unusual details and impedes the erection of various forms and compositions, whereas imprecision in some essential elements of plan, theoretically enables very high building. The article concludes by supporting that way of houses types that will accept all benefits of this high quality areas.

    Summary: From the second half of the ninteen century the most attractiveresidential area in Zagreb situated in the north part of town onthe outermost hill-sides of Medvednica has been gradually gettingits urban articulation by the process of spontaneous growth andvery small planning interventions. All regulative circumstancesof this building which could have influenced the building, orwhich could have left things to the uncontrolled buildingbehavior are chronologically elaborated till our days. In thiscourse the relevant regulations, acts, regulatory and directiverules, studies and urban plans including also the penultimate GUPwhich validity was concluded in 1986, when the new one which isvalid today was made, are stated.

    Summary: The article underlines the relativity of evaluations, which makesit possible to evaluate the same thing in very different ways.The most important factors in modern urban development areadvances in war technology and means of transportation and newmedical knowledge. The orthogonal pattern in fast planning andthe complex network that results from spontaneous growth are thephenomena described as typical conflicting examples. The authoralso gives a speculative analysis of the situation in Zagreb. Theurban conflict of blocks and streets as opposed to high-risebuildings and parks has not been solved. The conclusion is thatit would be difficult to argue in favour of either of the twomodels; it is onlz possible to note a change of our perception ofspace.

    Summary: A good solar orientation of the house principal rooms has been in attention since the time of Vitruvius writting and has been studied extensively in this century. Firstly, experience and afterwards scientistic discoveries, pointed out the physiological and psychological benefits of good orientation. Although there are quite plenty of studies ,analysis and programme demands, still there is not an easy but exact way to deal in everyday practice. Anyway a consciousness about good orientation is with many architects, as well as with users of dwelling space. A fair solar orientation is an important part for healthy dwelling, and it is from the southeast to the southwest.

An analysis (in drawings) of modern house planis made with traditional concept of space and volume proportion. Having respect for energy circumstances and through synthesis of global and local, contemporary house/machine is gaining its specific value.

    Summary: Very often our traditional dwelling object demand a particular renewal. This research is in example of 13 vernacular dwelling units.The method sscheme is:data collection/grphical plans and record tables/analyze/definition of criteria/three degrees of renewal7needed works/project solution refering to the degree of renewal/calculation of spending/choice of corresponding flat/presumptions about favorable index of adaptability/calculation of different indexes/comment and conclusion.In this particular case study , regarding some assumptions, it is shown that with a fair prices of spending, a high quality of units can be achived.
