Summary: The effect of the heath on the PP fibres was studied. The characteristic thermal constants and the behaviour in the wide temperature interval up to the thermal decomposition was found out. The influence of thermal and hydrothermal treatment on the performance properties was examined. Summary: Photodegradation of poyester-, polyamide and polyacrylonitrile fibre samples was investigated. The changes of the tensile strength and elongation at break of the fibres after determined exposure time under defined conditions were determined. The results obtained showed different sensibility of some kinds of the fibres on photodegradation, particularly on the influence of black dyestuff and matting agents. Special importance is devoted to the interventions by which a lower fiber tendency to pilling has been achived. Those interventions increase the fibres sensibility on photodegradation process. W

Summary: The features of fibres depend considerably on the size and morphology of molecules from which they are composed. Regarding the size of polymer molecules, this dependence is not only function of the average molecular mass, but first of all of its distribution. In the article a survey of methods for the determination of molecular mass distribution is given and their comparative advantages and disadvantages discussed. Based partly on the experiences of the author, the diffculties that can appear in their realization are indicated.
