    Held: from 10/16/91 to 10/17/91
Summary: The research has been carried out to develop rapid setting andhardening cement materials. The influence of the concentration ofthe salts and the type of lithium salts on the setting time andthe strengths of materials have been investigated. Alkalinelithium salts, the salts of week acids, have been investigated.Alkaline lithium salts, the salts of week acid, have a linearrelationship of setting time vs. pH with a negative slope. Themechanical properties of the materials have been investigated.New material has a special properties, very short setting time, high strengths at early ages as well as final strengths and verygood stickiness.

Summary: The research has been caried out to develop rapid setting andhardening cement materials for repair of concrete structures. Theset of high alumina cement may be considerably influenced byaddition of small quantities of alkali metal salts. The influenceof concentration of the salts, chemical nature of anion and thetype of alkali metal cation have been studied. The measurement offlexural and compressive strength of high alumina cement and highalumina cement with lithium chlotide have been made. Along withrapid setting lithium salts causes the strength development atearly ages. This is important for practical use of rapid settingand hardening materials.

    Held: from 11/05/92 to 11/07/92
Summary: The hydration of high alumina cement may be considerablyinfluenced by addition of small quantities of alkali meta salts. The influence of concentration of salts and type of alkali metalcation have been studied. The measurement of flexural andcompressive strength of HAC and HAC with lithium and other alklimetal salts have been made. The lithium cation has greathereffect on the hydration then other alkli metal cations. Alongwith rapid setting, lithium salts cause the strength developmentat early ages. The integral analyses of the results have beenmade in order to test the process of hardening. The process obeysa simple first-order reaction rate in the period of 6 h afterfirst apearance of the strength. The action of lithium containingsetting accelerators is based on a shortening of the inductionperiod, while they have no effect on the rate of hardening.

    Held: from 11/23/92 to 11/28/92
Summary: The research has been carried out to develop rapid setting andhardening cement materials for repair of concrete. The highalumina cement HAC has been used. The effect of alkali metalsalts on the setting time has been studied. The influence ofconcentration of the salts chemical nature of the anions and typeof the alkali metal cations have all been investigated. Theresults of the research indicate that lithium salts are veryeffective accelerators of HAC. By increasing the concentration ofthe salts , the setting time decreases. The lithium cation hasmore effect on the setting time than other alkali cations becauseof its ability to form tetrahedral symmetry while the others willform the octahedral type. The effect of hydroksyl ion in thealuminium enviroment leading to furter contres for oxobridgeformation. The measurements of flexural and compressive strengthof HAC with lithium nitrate have been made. Lithium nitrate causedecreasing of flexural and compressive strength of HAc mortarsbut alco cause the strength development at early ages.

Summary: The set of high alumina cement has been considerably influenced by addition of small quantities of alkali metal salts. Along with rapid setting, lithium salts cause the strength development at early ages. The integral analyses of the results of compressive strength measurement was been made in order to test the process of hardening. The process follows the first order kinetics, rate constant is independent on lithium concentration and the induction period decreases significantly by addition of lithium carbonate. The induction period during precipitation of calcium aluminate hydrates is reflection of the nucleation barrier to the formation of this compounds. The accelerating effect of lithium carbonate has been attributed to a removal of this barrier caused by initially fast precipitation of lithium hydrometaaluminate. The comprehensive analyses of the solution extracted from cement slurries show that alumina, released into solution by hydrolyses of HAC has been imidiately precipitated as lithium hydrometaaluminate. These dried, powdered, synthetically prepared compound, has been thougt to act as a heterogeneous nucleation substrate, thus eliminating the induction period. Physical property of the new material (strength, porosity) has been measured to determined the connection between these properties. It has been obtained the function as a connection between strength and porosity of a such material.
