Summary: The development of new hydroinsulating rapid setting and
hardening materials is based on the correlation of chemical structure of
inorganic compounds structures and their properties. From information
about the possibility of chemical compaund synthesis and its reactivity,
effectiveness of new materials could be predicted. The new
hydroinsulating material has been developed. The active parts of the
material deeply penetrate the capillary system of the construction objects
where they react. The insoluble compounds clog up the capillarie and
pores. After this procedure the objects would be permanently protected
from water and moisture. In the research of rapid setting and
hardening cement materials alkali metal salts as set accelerators of high
alumina cement (HAC) have been studied. Along with rapid setting alkali
metal salts cause the strength development at early ages. Proper selection
of the alkali metal salts and concentration can lead to rapid setting and
hardening materials without quality deteriaration. Except for the
development of new materials the reearch has been contributed to the
better understanding of kinetics and mechanisms of rapid setting and
hardening of high alumina cemant in the presence of alkali metal salts.
The process obeys a simple first-order reaction rate in the period of six
hours after first appearance of the strength. The action of
lithium-containing setting accelerators is based on a shortening the
induction period, while they have no effect in the rate of hardening.
Research goals: The research has been carried out in order to
develop new hydroinsulating materials for protection and maintance of
construction objects. The active part of the materials will deeply
penetrate the capillary system of the construction objects where they can
react. The insoluble compounds will clog up the capillaries and pores and
objects would be permanently protected from water and moisture. In
research of rapid setting and hardening cement materials, except for the
development of new materials, the research will contribute to the better
understanding of hydration process and mechanisms of rapid setting of HAC
in the presentce of differentanions on the setting time will be
investigated as well. The kinetics and mechanisms of hardening process
will be studied and matematical description of process will be given.
Also, the influence of pH of the media and relationship between the
setting time and pH will be determined. Other information about the project.
