Summary: Transformation of the aragonite modification present into
the stable calcite structure was traced by means of the non-isothermal DSC
analysis. A mathematical analysis of experimental DSC curves defined the
mechanism and the kinetics of the phase transformation of aragonite into
calcite. The kinetic curves a=f(t) and a=f(T) are sigmoidal in shape, and
the inflection points and the v(m) point of the curves v=f(t) and v=f(T)
are interrelated and are defined by the concept of the stationary point.
The kinetic curves indicate that v(m) corresponds to (dH/dt)m of the
endothermal peak of the phase transition, which is caracteristic of a
topochemical reaction.

Summary: The mechanism of the reaction taking place between the
NSFsuperplastificiser and Portland cement was examined by means of
spectrophotometric and conductometric methods, and strength measurement
were carried out in the presence of 0.1-2% of the admixture. The results
obtained for electrolite conductivity, mass of admixture adsorbed to cement
surphace, and increase in strength, provided a basis for conclusions on
phenomena and effects occurring in the reaction environment between the
additive and the cement.

Summary: In order to obtain a deeper insight into manner in wich the
admixture interacts with hydrated and complex cationic species, and to
acertain which ligands ir release in the supstitution reaction, a series of
examinations has been carried out with solution of pure salts and their
mixtures similar to those contained in the extract of a hydrated solution.
The admixtures used are NSF and MSF. UV-spectrophotometric and
conductometric measurements were carried out. The results obtained confirm
that the admixture interacts with the released hydrated ion or hydroxo
complex.
