Summary: Polyethylene pipes are nowadays increasingly used in the
gas supply industry. Durability of pipes depends on their deformation when
submitted to static and dynamic loading. The model and laboratory testing
of polyethylene pipes and surrounding materials, in various laying and
loading conditions, is discribed. Results obtained by deformation
measurment, surving as a basis for pipe design, are presented. Deviations
from results obtained by traditional methods are given and guidelines for
further research are proposed.

Summary: The corrosion of steel in soils is a permanent problem. The
most significant factors that influence it are the grain size distribution,
the ground water composition, the pH-value and the electrical conductivity
of a soil. This paper describes the effect of some clays, the
alkaline-activated bentonite and peat on the corrosion of steel. It is
shown that the determination of electrical conductivity and pH-value in
soil suspensions can be used for the prediction of soil corrosion.
Corrosion in soil samples was determined by the mass loss, which confirmed
the results of previous tests.

Summary: Data from 53 locations in the Varaždin town (Croatia)
obtained from geotechnical investigation in 347 boreholes are statistically
analyzed, resulting in a model of soil quality distribution. This model is

Soil Types (DST) are introduced as a numerical soil classification. The
statistical analyses is made by the automatic multivariate regression,

beguided by the use of the Assistant Professiolal expert systemshell in
combinatio with fiels sampling and some laboratorydetermination. A slall
set of the most important attributes foedescription and classification of
sedimentary ore depostis isobtained from the expert system. The selected
attributes show thepresence or absence of geochemical anomalies of cetrain
chemicalelements, as well as the presence of some minerals in
theinvestigated area. The results of the research show how to findout if it
is genetically possible that any class of ore depositsis present in the
investigated area.

(1975-1990).Importance of nonmetallics in relation to fuels and ores
(metals)is emphasized. From the total of 56 economically used
nonmetallicminerals and rocks there is an unlimited potential for 10
rawmaterials in Croatia, and for 10 with limited resources. Further14
nonmetallics are known in Croatia and could be brought intoproduction after
some additional exploration. Extra 8 materials(synthetic abrasive minerals
and gem crystals) of high technologycould be produced if enterprising
interests and venture capitalwill be available. There is absence of the

Summary: The geotechnical researches of some sections of the Zagreb

opportunity for studing the space relations of cohesion and angle of
shearing resistance in the ground, by the metode of variography (the

reliable kriging models of the parameters along the highway may be obtained
by applying the technique of panels and blocks. The models should be

Summary: In mining very often small deposits are exploited and that
is the reason to study and suggest the procedure of the estimation and
production planning of just such small deposits, where the number of
drillholes is relatively few, thus there is an insufficient number of input
data to make a good estimation of the thickness of the layer and ore
content. Therefore, it is better to have a greater number of intervals
(samples) in drillholes (short length) and in irregular through shaped
deposits in slices (not in levels).

the application of electrical analogy, i.e. thetransformation of surveyor
networks into electrical ones. Digitaltechnique is bassically application
of computers. TheHewlett-Packard pocket computers have been use here. To
carry outcomputer adjustment asymmetrical error equations are developedand
then originally transformed into symmetrical ones, which canbe solved in
the same way as standard normal equations by meansof Gaussion elimination.
