Summary: The First International Workshop on Hypertrophic
Osteoarthropathy was held in Florence, Italy, June 21-24,1992. The event
was hosted by Dr. Matucci-Cerinić of the University of Florence, and was
chaired by Professor Jajić from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. The
proceedings of the workshop were published in a special supplement of
Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology 1992, (suppl7)10. During the last
day of the meeting a round table took place. A consensus was reached on the
nomenclature, definition, calssification, diagnostic criteria and
assessment of hypertrophic osteoarthropathy (HOA). It is hoped that this
information serves as common ground to facilitate communication and
research in this field.
