Summary: The effects of pulsed Doppler ultrasound on microbial systems, glycoprotein and ganglioside changes in human trophoblast as well as releasing of placental hormones - HCG, HPL and estriol in the culture tissue. Blood flow in corpus luteum in normal and abnormal pregnancies is investigated. The localisation of osteogenic protein 1 in human trophoblast and embryonic tissue is established. Blood flow in maternal, placental and fetal vessels in normal and abnormal (diabetic, hypertensive and IUGR) advanced pregnancies is evaluated. The changes in hystological findings are correlated with blood flow changes. The investigation of blood flow in yellow sac and viteline duct and changes in spiral arteries in normal and abnormal pregnancies is still in progress.

Research goals: The genotoxic effects of pulsed Doppler ultrasound in culture tissue were investigated in the first part. In the second part the changes of blood flow in early and late normal and abnormal pregnancies which could be a cause of spontaneous abortion or indication of fetal hypoxia were observed.
