Summary: There were 40 patients with Mononucleosis infectiosa
treated. The diagnosis of the disease was based on clinical and laboratory
findings. The pathogen of the disease was Epstein-Barr virus. We followed:
blood-count, hepatogram, antibodies to viral capside antigen and
cytological analysis of lymph node needle aspiration. These were done at
all patients before the treatment with acyclovir (1/3 of patients),
cimetidin (1/3 of patients) and at the control group. After the treatment,
according to plan, at all patients the blood count, hepatogram and control
cytologic analysis of lymph node needle aspiration was made. Clinical
(fever, lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, angina) and laboratory
parameters (blood count, hepatogram) were made, too. The whole programm has
not been realized yet because of shortage of financial support
(determination of monoclonal antibodies). One part of achieved results was
presented at international scientific conferences, and the other in
doctoral dissertation of the assistant in the project.
Research goals: Lymphoprolipherative disorder is very common at
patients with infectious mononucleosis. Our aim is to establish the
efficacy of acyclovir and cimetidin (together with control group) to
increasment of lymphoprolipheration based on parameters: size of lymph
nodes, size of liver and spleen, changes in differential blood count
andcytomorphological needle aspiration of lymph nodes. Mentioned parameters
will be followed during the treatment and compared with control group.
Although the project is not entirely finished as it was planned, mainly
because of shortage of financial support, it can be said that mentioned
drugs have the influence to frequency of lymphoprolipherative disorder in
the comparison with control group.
