Summary: In this project clinical and laboratory research of
pregnenciesfollowed up in Obstetric out-patient unit of the Gyneacology
Department UHC Zagreb was planned. The significance of genital
system biocenosis for the pregnancy outcome ,child developmentand possible
pathology was tested was tested by taking
vaginal and endocervical smears at the first visit.
Samples of the mothers blood and when indicated of childs, too, were taken
et equal intervals. From this samples was extractedestradiol, progesteron, and
C-reactive protein.It was also planned
to assess known and possible stimulators of myometricalcontractions
(prostaglndin F2 alfa,prostaglandin E2,prostaciklin,
tromboksan,interleukin 1 alfa and leukotrien B4),with a parallel
observation of mechanical and electrical uterine activity.
Our goal was to obtain insight into the dynamics of theseparametars during
term pregnancy as well duringintraamniotic infection or preterm
uterineactivity.Irregularities of these parametars were followed up
inpregnancies with symptoms of preterm delivery and treatment andtherapy
assessed accordingly.
In vitro research was planned in the experimental part.
1/The contractility of human myometrium in media with various
tocolytic concetrations.2/Electronic-mycroscope reseach ofcontact
junctions.3/Production of myometrical contractionstimulator,human
amnion, and decidua in the tissue culture.
Research goals: The goal of our proposed research was to: 1/Assess
the correlation of genital bacterial flora in pregnancy and premature
delivery. The results are beeing processed. 2/Assess pregnancy with
intraamniotic infection in correlation with the genital bacterial flora, the
importance and reliability of clinical and biochemical parametars in
intraamniotic infection diagnosis. The results are been elaborated and
published(see under publications). 3/Assess the benefit of confirmed
myometral contraction inhibitors and their influence on the mother and the
child(within etnical limits). The results are beeing processed and future
research planned. 4/Assed the importance of the detection the
characteristic of the electrical and consequential mechanical uterine
activity for the begining of labor(preterm and term).Preliminary results
have been published(see under publications).
