Summary: The influences of three types of weather that
arecharacteristic for the coastal region of Middle Dalmatian (sirocco, bora
and calm weather) have been studied with respectto (1) incidence of
myocardial infarction (MI); (2) incidence ofparoxysmal atrial fibrillation,
(3) platelet aggregability in theacute phase of MI and (4) incidence of
arrhythmias in subacutephase of MI. It was observed that sirocco is
associated withincreased risks of MI, atrial fibrillation and
postinfartalarrhytmogenseis and with increased platelet aggregability.
Thestudy of association of meteorological factors and vegetativetonus in
coronary patients is anticipated.
Research goals: The aim of this work is to assess the specific
influences of meteorological events in the Middle Dalmatia in patients with
coronary disease.
