Summary: The authors analyzed clinical and prognostical significance
of intramedullar lesions in patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy.
CT myelography was performed in 64 patients suffering from cervical
spondylotic myelopathy. In 15 patients intramedullar concentrations of
contrast medium were shown. The corruption of the lesion with the decrease
of AP changes in the vertebral canal and the spinal medulla, the duration
of the disease and the appearance of spastic paraparesis and syringomyelia
was confirmed. On the ground of measuring the AP changes in the vertebral
canal and the spinal cord in CT myelography and of the duration of the
disease, the authors concluded that the development of intramedullar
lesions depended on the spinal canal stenosis, as well as on the
deformation of the spinal medulla.
