Summary: By frontal car collision passangers are commonly exposed to dynamic deceleration force applied to the limbs and acting in the direction of the bone shaft axis. This force could be transmited from the foot or from the knee to the hip joint and to the pelvis, or from the hand, elbow and arm to the schoulder joint resulting in typical fractures. The authors have analysed injured patients from Teaching Hospital, for traumatology Zagreb, and have described radiological, epidemiological, clinical and biomechanical feature of these fractures, as well as ergonomic characteristics of the car in collision. The purpose of this study is to explain biomechanical etiology of these fractures. This analysis may be usefull in prevention of this type of fracture.

Research goals: Goals of this research are epidemiologica, clinical and biomechanical analyses of traffic accidents passangers with axial injuries - a casual entity with characteristic patterns of fracture. The aim is to obtain new data about mechanism and incidence of different types of bone fracture caused by axial transmission of deceleration force in car collision.
