Summary: The authors bring forth a review of the epidemiological
data onthe frequency of psoriasis in the particular regions in theYugoslav
republics and abroad. In this case the genetic aspectsof psoriasis, as well
as the effects of external and internalprovocation factors on the clinical
manifestation of thepsoriasis were especially emphasized. The
characteristics of theindividual geographic regions and the role of
nutrition wereespecially mentioned. The frequency of psoriasis is different
indifferent geographic regions, with the effects of the previouslymentioned
factors, and it ranges from 0,3% to 2% and more of thewhole population. It
is necessary to continue with well organizedepidemiological researches of
the particular areas inhabited byas many inhabitants as possible. This
could bring answers to manydoubts regarding the frequency of psoriasis, its
