    Pages: from 23 to 27
    Number of references: 5
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: In a group of released prisoners 65% were found to have sleepdisorders up to 15 days after release. Three months later thispercentage had increased to 80% in spite of therapy. Thefollowing factors were found to have an essential influence onsleep disorders: length of captivity, loss of relative body mass,EEG changes during the first examination and loss ofconsciousness during imprisonment. A factor which becomes mostevident is the phenomenon of loss of one or more members of theimmediate family.
Keywords: Sleep disorders, EEG, violence, concentration camps, war in Croatia

    Volume: 3
    Year: 1993
    Pages: from 53 to 55
    Number of references: 17
    Language: engleski
Summary: In a representative group of prisoners released from Serbianconcentration camps, mean age 33.7 years and average duration ofimprisonment 88 days, changes were found in the EEG in 36%, 3 to15 days after release. The changes correlated well with thelength of imprisonment in the camps, time elapsed since the lastcraniocerebral injury and loss of consciousness duringimprisonment, but did not correlate well with the number ofwitnessed craniocerebral injuries.
Keywords: EEG, violence, concentration camps, war in Croatia

  3. Type of paper: Paper in journal

Title: EVOKED SOMATOSENSORY POTENTIALS IN THE DETERMINATION OF DAMAGE TO THE PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM AND THE SURVEILLANCE OF REHABILITATION

    Authors:
    Vrca, Anđelko (100172)
    Journal: Fiz. med. rehabilit.
    Volume: 3
    Year: 1993
    Pages: from 33 to 37
    Number of references: 9
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: The use of somatosensory evoked potentials is proposed for thedetection and surveillance of rehabilitation of damagedperipheral and combined central and peripheral structures of thenervous system in war injuries. The usability of the resultsincreases when the examinations are repeated in the samecircumstances, allowing for individual adaptation of methodology.
Keywords: Evoked potentials, SEP, war injuries, peripheral nervous system

Title: BRAIN STEM EVOKED POTENTIALS IN RELEASED PRISONERS FROM SERBIAN CONCENTRATION CAMPS DURING WAR IN CROATIA 1991-1992

    Authors:

    Volume: 47
    Year: 1993
    Pages: from 93 to 96
    Number of references: 9
    Language: engleski
Summary: The frequency of patological values of IPL(interpeak latences) P1-P3 and P3-P5 of BAEP differed greatly group of released prisoners from Serbian concentration camps and general population. The most frequent changes are expressed as differences in right-left and unilateral, showed positive corelation with the number of alleged blows to the head and neck and negative correlation with time elapsed from last blow. Fall in relative body weight dissociate periferal(P1-P3) and medullary level(P3-P5) having a serious influence at the medullary level.

Title: VISUAL EVOKED POTENTIALS IN PRISONERS OF WAR RELEASED FROM SERBIAN DETENTION CAMPS

    Authors:

    Number of references: 19
    Language: engleski
Summary: VEP check-board type reversal were investigated in representative sample of 22 prisoners released from Serbian detention camps and in 44 control subjects. A significant amplitude increase was found in prisoners for waves N75, P100 and N145 and significant prolongation latence for wave P100, number of patological determed VEP parametars calculated in accordance control, number of subjects had least one and more pathological values. There were no significant asymmetry for the left and rigiht visual patway in both groups. The resultats indicate initial and subclinical signs of changes.
Keywords: Prisoners of war, visual evoked potentials, concentration camps.

Summary: In three groups of released prisoners from Serbian detention camps and control VEP and BRAP were determed. In 1.group (22 POW-s) 10-60 days after released (25,7 SD=16), in 2. group (24 POW-s) 6-9 months after released (212,7 SD=43,5), in 3. group (22 POW-s) 12-18 months after released (437,7 SD=41,5). The control group has 36 subjects. Resultats: VEP and BEAP showed changes in 1. group of POW-s in comparations and VEP showed progresion trough 2. and 3. groups, BEAP showed progresion in 2. and regresion in 3. group.
