Title: Occurence of Phytophthora species in Croatia
- Authors:
- Cvjetković, Bogdan (7496)
- Jurjević, Željko (194404)
Journal: Fragmenta phytomedica et herbologica
Number: 1
ISSN: 1330-2884
Volume: 21
Year: 1993
Pages: from 45 to 56
Number of references: 20
Summary: The authors isolated two Phytophthora species from the
tomatoplants which differed in their morfological characteristics. Onthe
basis of the mentioned characteristics it was determinatedthat the two
isolates belonged to different species. One wasPhytophthora nicotianae van
Breda de Haan var nicotianae sensuWaterhouse. The other fitted the original
description ofPhytophthora cryptogea Pethybridge and Lafferty.
Thepathogenicity of both species was proved by artificial infectionsof
tomato.

Number of references: 22
Summary: Comparative anatomical investigations of the bean seed coat
ofthe 4 native cultivated varieties and 2 populations were made todetermine
the quantitative differences in the thickness of seedcoat and its
histological layers. The thinnest seed coat had theKutjevački rani and
Galeb cultivars, and the thickest theRozalija. The relationship between
thickness of seed coat and itshistological layers point at the taxonomical
meaning of theinvestigated cultivars and populations of the Phaseolus
vulgarisL.

Title: Nitrate accumulation in lettuce as related to nitrogen
fertilization levels
- Authors:
- Ćustić, Mirjana (111003)
Journal: Poljoprivredna znanstvena smotra
Number: 1
ISSN: 0370-0291
Volume: 56
Year: 1991
Pages: from 49 to 56
Number of references: 18
Summary: Over fertilization with nitrogen results in an increase of
nitratcontent in lettuce thus posing potential danger for human
health(methemoglobinemia). Fertilizing with high nitrogen levelsresulted in
an increase of nitrate content in lettuce duringgrowth period, but no
statistically significant differences wereobserved in yield. At harvest,
nitrate content dropped within therange of concentrations considered safe
for human consumption byFAO standards.

Title: The yield compounds of dwarf French bean (Phaseolus
vulgaris L. var nanus Martens) in summer sowing times
- Authors:
- Borošić, Josip (4662)
Journal: Poljoprivredna znanstvena smotra
Number: 1
ISSN: 0370-0291
Volume: 57
Year: 1992
Pages: from 5 to 51
Number of references: 67
Summary: the development of dwarf French bean sown in summer times
withoutirrigation has been studied. At most cropping times, the
plantheights and the yields of shoot with pods are less than 35 cm and20
t/ha, respectively. The plant heights until the firstprocessable pod are
more than 15 cm. The yields of pods are lessthan 7 t/ha at the most sowing
times.
Keywords: dwarf French bean, summer sowing, weather conditions, growth parameters, yield compounds, seed growth during ripeness
