Title: The estimates of share of yield components in sunflower by

Summary: A trial with 30 sunflower hybrids was established in order
todetermine the correlations between the oil yield/ha (Y) on theone hand
na the grain yield (x1), the oil content (x2), thehectolitre weight (x3),
1000 kernel weight (x4), the headdiametar (x5) and the plant height (x6) on
the other. The resultsobtained in this investigation indicate that the
grain had apredominant role in producing the oil yield, whereas
somewhatlower but still significant correlation was found between the
oilcontent, the hectolitre weight on the one hand and the oil yieldon the
other. An increase in the oil yield by 0,39 kg/ha ,whereas one percent of
the increase in the oil in kernelsincreased the oil yield by 39,25 kg/ha.
The increase in the oilyield, which is affected by head diametar, is of a
certainstatistical importance. Yet, from the practical standpoint, it
isunessential.

Summary:
This paper shows the main objectives of sunflower breeding at theOsijek
Agricultural Institute, considering the results of testing300
recently-created OS-hybrids during the 1990 and 1992 growingseasons. In
addition, we wanted to find correlations between themost important
traits,due to which breeding is conducted, and theoil yield per hectare, as
well as to determine their effects onthe final goal of each breeding cycle.
We laid an emphasisi firston several recently-created OS-hybrids included
in the officialtest by the Committee for Recognition of Agricultural
CropVarieties of Croatia. The mayority of the new OS-hybrids includedin the
test by the Committe gave a higher yield of kernels andoil, compared to
the means of all hybrids tested. However,theoil content was as high as the
mean one. The hybrids OS-H-5,OS-H-6, OS-H-8 and OS-H-11 gave outstanding
results. For theplant height, the head diameter, the 1000 kernel weight,
nosignificant correlations were detected. A weak positive and amedium
strong correlation were found between the hectolitre weight and oil yield,
and between the hectolitre and the oilcontent in kernels, respectively
(r=0,460). A very strong to acomplete correlation (r=0,903) was detected
between the yield ofkernels and the oil yield. A strong correlation was
found betweenthe oil content and the oil yield (r=0,516).

Summary: This article presents the results of testing efficiency of
nineherbicide preparations (Afalon, Codal, Dual, Dualin, Gallant,Galex,
Racer, Treflan, Wenner) applied as pre sowing, preemergence and post
emergence ones at the Osijek Agriculturalinstitute in 1989 and 1990. The
results were compared with thecontrol. Herbicide preparations were composed
of two and threeactive ingredients, respectively, to improve their effects
onweed species. Medium weedness caused by monochotiledons anddichotiledons
(25,6 weed species/m2 in 1989 and 14,5 weedspecies/m2 in 1990) was observed
on the control. Among themonochotiledons, the dominant species was
Echinochloa crus-galliiin both years of the investigation. Among the
dichotiledons, thedominant species were Ambrosia artemisiifolia and
Amaranthuspowellii in 1989 and 1990, respectively. In mayority of
herbicidepreparations tested showed satisfactory selektivity forsunflower.
The herbicide preparations had more pronounced effectson all weed species
in 1990 rather than in 1989. The herbicidecombination Treflan+Racer+Afalon
(80% in 1989, 90,9% in 1990) wasthe most efficient for monochotiledons in
both yeaars of theinvestigation. The combination Wenner+Racer (80,7% in
1989 and93,5% in 1990) was the most efficient one for dichotiledonswhereas
for both weed groups, the following preparations
wereefficint;Afalon+Gallant (82,4% in 1989), Dualin+Racer (81,4% in1990),
Wenner+Racer (84,1% in 1990) and Treflan+Racer+Afalon(93,8% in 1990). No
significant differences for traits underobservation (plant height, head
diameter, grain yield) weredetected by the variance analysis and F-test
across they years.Data analyzed for both years indicated the importance of
thefactor year for the diameter regarding both significance levels,as well
as of the trait grain yield at the significance level ofP-0,05. The results
inicated that sunflower can tolerate weedspecies under specific
microclimatic conditions. It can beassumed that sunflower plants effect the
reduction of theefficiency of the mayority of herbicide preparations tested
in alarge measure, though all of them have prevented the soil from
anincreasing weedness.
