Meeting: Second round table on the livestok production sector in eastern europe as affected by current changes
Held: from 01/19/91 to 01/22/91
Summary: Croatia is both a continantal and Mediterranean country, it
is acountry of exellent natural potentials for varied and
effectiveagricultural production. The achieved level od development of
theCroatian agriculture as well as its livestok production do notmeasure up
to these potencials. The main difficulties thatCroatian agriculture faces
today are: 1.reparation of damages inthe areas struck by the war,
2.unfavourable ownership structureand 3. unfavourable structure of
production. Rapid changes ofregulations concerning agriculture have
provided the basis forthe elimination of an unfavourable ownership
structure as well asthe economic basis for a faster development of
agriculture andits restructuring. Revival of Croatian agriculture in
thepost-war period will be based on the concept of simultaneousdevelopment
and restructuring. This will be a hard task andwithout help extended by
other countries it might take a longtime.
