Summary: Consideration of various consequences of State succession as a result of dissolution of former Yugoslavia, Soviet Union and Czecho-Slovakia, especially in respect of: citizenship, human and minority rights; State property, archives and debts of the predecessor State; treaties; membership in international organizations. Legal qualification of dissolution of the predecessor State and allegations of so-called illegal "secession" of some former Republics from the Yugoslav Federation. The war on the soil of former Yugoslavia and inflicted crimes. Claims for reparation of war damages.

Research goals: Ready-made legal rules on State succession are scarce, vague andmostly of non-mandatory character (jus dispositivum). The State succession results from big territorial changes in a part of theworld, which are not frequent. Former international practice on State succession was very inconsistent. Doctrinal goals: research of State practice, of practice of international arbitration and judiciary, and establishment of legal rules in this domain. Practical goals: legal advices to the delegation of Croatia in negociations; preparation of draft submissions to the Arbitration Commission; presentation at international conferences of results of this reseach, of positions and legislation of Croatia.
