Summary: Linguistic enviroment plays a meaningful role in language
functioning. A probelm emerging in Europe (and worldwide)
today is a need to find a way of intercommunicationg verbally in a
competent way. In other words, one should not forget that a person can be
linguistically advantaged/competent at the intracommunication level (first
language /members of the same

intercommunication level (second language/members of other language
communities).

possibleetiological factors that can be the cause of the disturbance
weretested as well. Canonic and quasicanonical

canonic and one quasicanonical dimension wasextracted. This investigation
has proved the connection betweenthe articulation disturbance and the

Summary: This article gives a broad description of the problem of
parental influence on
the speech development in children. It presents differences in
communication
between parents and their children with speech difficulties and parents and
their children without speech difficulties. Comments of the opinions given
by
different authors about the possible influence of these diferences in
communication, on the children's slower acquisition of speech are given as
well. The function of these differences is explained within mentioned
groups of
pairs.

Summary: The results of repetition tests applied on children with
SLI show that their problems depend upon sintactic function of aparticular
word in the sentence. The most common strategy toresolve repetition
problems is to leave out sintactic elementsthat are loosely tied to the
sentence.

Summary: At the sample of pupils with reading difficulties and at
thesample of normal
readers, achievement of verbal learning list (LVU) has beenexamined. Also,
the learning speed, using of memory strategies and attention spanhave been
mesured.
Analysis of variance shows significant difference between groupsin number
of
memorised elements, but not in applying memory and recallstrategies. The
influence of
retroactive interferention is a little bit bigger in the groupwith reading
difficulties, what indicates the reduced ability ofconcentration.

Summary: Two groups of pupils, with and without reading
difficulties, havebeen tested
with Visual perception speed test (VPB1).
The results of analysis of variance confirm statisticallysignificant
difference between two groups in the visual discrimination speedof written
symbols. The obtained results can be explained by thedifferencies in
capacity
of working memory, and/or by differencies in attention span. VPB1Test shows
adequate validity for dyagnosing reading difficulties.

Summary: The so far data analysis (results obtained on
variablessuch as e.g. dual/plural formation, sentence imitation)has shown
that SLI children produce very few morphologicalmistakes comparable to the
results in some other studies. However, there are significant
differences between thegroups in terms of total number of remembered
words(sentence imitation task). That fact urged us to pay special
attention to the results obtained on fourcognitive/memory variables. The
discussion which follows is focused on possible explanations of sentence
imitation strategies applied by SLI children in theframework of their
memory characteristics.

1988 at University of Zagreb a project on SLI was started with a
main goal to define and describe this phenomenon in Croatian.

Summary:
As a part of the longitudinal study of speech and cognitive
skills in children with language impairments, tasks of grammar
error detection and correction have been applied. The purpose of
that portion of the research was to determine the disctinctionsof
language and metalanguage knowledge in children with languagedifficulties
and those without. As shown in some previous
studies, such tasks set in sentences can well indicate to
metalanguage knowledge.

Summary:
The fact is that some individuals do function linguistically wellwhile
others do not. Along with other important factors,
linguistic environment plays a meaningful role in language func
tioning.
What is healthy linguistic environment? How can people protect
themselves from becoming linguistically incompetent? Is there
still enough time to run away from the (old) story about
languagedeficiency? Or, is the European linguistic environment already
too polluted? How much can linguists do? These are some of the
questions this paper will deal with.

Summary: Because the algoritham for the robust discriminative
analysis isbased on
principal axis factor analysis, variables with artificial highcorrelations
will be predominant in creating the discriminative functions.Partialization
of
influence of low correlated variables and after that estimationof
discriminative coefficient has been suggested as the solution ofthat
problem.
Discriminative function based on this computing algoritham shouldrefflet a

Summary: The paper analyses some of the conditions under which
thebilingualism of third generation Croatian migrants in the F.R.Germany
develops, and likewise gives the evaluation of parentsand self-evaluations
of pupils in regard to the mastering of thefirst or respectively second
language. The overall gatheredinformation indicates that a large part of
the third generationmigrants is growing up in conditions of
socio-culturaldeprivation.

Summary: This paper is a result od the study in which children were
given metalinguistic task. The same procedure was applied in German and
Croatian. The purpose of this paper was to analyze the differences between
SLI and non-SLI children in a task of sentence production, as well as to
make some possible comparisons between Croatian and German children.

Summary: The level of the laryngeal muscle tension has been explored
inthe group of stutterers and a group of non-stutterers by meansof special
equipment for the EMG biofeedback and the computerprogramme for measurement
of the level of muscle tension inlarynx area. Significant correlation is
obtained between theprephonatory phase of speech and stuttering intensity.

Title: The method of linear regression with constraints for
classification persons with difficulties in social integration
Faculty: Fakultet za defektologiju Sveučilište u Zagrebu
Author: NIKOLIĆ BRANKO
Date of defense: 12/21/92
Language: hrvatski
Number of pages: 173
Summary: We introduce a new calss of object classification
algorithms, based upon the linear regression procedure, where
theclassification coefficients satisfy some set of constraints whichmay be
equalities or unequalities.
Estimating of coefficients in decision function is performed bymethod of
linear programming. The regression problem istransformed into the problem
of linear programming, and thensolved by a modification of simplex method.
The functioning of object classifikation system was tested onacoustic
characteristics of phonemes of the croatian language andsome articulation
properties of that phonemes.

Title: Speech articulation disorders and their interrelations
Faculty: Fakultet za defektologiju Sveučilište u Zagrebu
Author: HEDJEVER MLADEN
Date of defense: 10/04/91
Language: hrvatski
Number of pages: 75
Summary: The sounds articulation disorders were tested on a sample
of 909children,
Test identified disorders in 20 consonants. Four main comppnents, defined by
17
sounds, were excluded applaying Factor analysis. The componentswere
analyzed
according to the place of articulation, the role of tongue in aprocess of
articulation, stridency, and the acoustic sounds characteristicsinvolved in
their definition. The research results suggest that articulationdisorders
are
related to the difficulties of tongue movability.

Summary: This work discusses the evaluation of an agressive
behaviortreatment in two
hard of hearing boys. Based on the belived causes ofagressivness, the
treatment program included application of behavior reinforcementstrategies,
self-concept enhancement strategies, social interactionstimulation and
mathematics instructional program. The treatment was evaluatedusing the
