Starting from the psychodynamic point of wiew, they present Freud's classical experience, the notions of his successors, and wievs of neoanalysts, with particular reference to the structural-linguistic theory of J. Lacan.

Summary: According to earlier studies, articulation disorders constitute about 60% of all speech difficultes. An investigation of children between the age 6 and 8 undergoing dyslalia therapy at the center SUVAG in Zagreb has showen that 64,44% of the subjects had orthodontic anomalies.

Summary: Articulatory disorder is an undefined term for a great number of disorders of different proportions and intensity which to a certain degree, impairs phonematic realization of speech. When articulatory errors appears as the only disorder, we speak about functional articulatory disorders of dyslalies. However, articulatory disorders appear more often in association with some other, sometimes very slight disorder (specific language impairment, cluttering) or reading and writing disturbances (dyslexia, dysgraphia). In this case we speak about the articulatory disorders with the organic base whose true nature will be enlightened just the associated disorder.
Keywords: Articulatory disorder, functional articulatory disorders, dyslalies

    Title: Diagnostic of Speech Disorders

    Authors:
    Ivičević-Desnica, Jelena (143611)
    Journal: Suvag
    Number: 1-2
    ISSN: 0353-2704
    Volume: 6
    Year: 1993
    Pages: from 67 to 72
    Number of references: 11
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: Speech is structural unity composed of elements so mutually dependent, that any disorder of each of these elements, to a certain degree, causes the impairment of the whole. This is why one has to observe these elements and their disorders in relation to the wholeness of speech. Speech is realization of a person, and speech deviations cannot be estimated in an absolute manner but in relation to all other characteristics of a person. Testing of speech impilicitly includes analysis of all aspects of speech production and reception. At the same time, it is a verification of harmony of these aspects and their segmental deviation from other speaker's characteristics.

Title: Connection Between the Articulatory Mistakes and Disorders of the other Motor and Perception Abilities of the Speech Area

    Authors:
    Ivičević-Desnica, Jelena (143611)
    Journal: Govor
    Number: 2
    ISSN: 0352-7565
    Volume: 10
    Year: 1993
    Pages: from 47 to 77
    Number of references: 54
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: The aim of the study is to confirm the assumptions regarding the connection between the functional pronunciation/articulatory mistakes and the disorders of other motor and perception abilities of speech, related to the higher speech integrating and analysing functions of the brain. A number of checks and examinations have been made to prove directly (by a neurological check, EEG analysis, computerised perception labyrinth) or directly (by WISC and Bender test, examining of phonematic hearing and hearing analysis and synthesis) the existence of damages and disfunction of CNS. The obtained data have been processed by the statistic methods of canonic discriminative functions, correlations and factor analysis. The results have entirely confirmed the initial assumption on neurogeneity of functional pronunciation/articulatory mistakes and disorders of the related motor and perception abilities of speech.

Title: Larger Speech Environment Impact on Learning Mother Tongue in Croats Living in Hungary

    Authors:
    Dudaš, Geza (166166)
    Journal: Govor
    Number: 2
    ISSN: 0352-7565
    Volume: 10
    Year: 1993
    Number of references: 5
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: It has been shown, on the sample of 38 examined pupils (from 5th to 8th grade of the elementary schools in the greater area of the town Pecs in Hungary) who have declared their mother tongue to be Croatian, that the speech environments has had unfavourable impact on the prosodic elements of speech. The sound structure of speech elements appears to be of a more resilient nature with regards to the outside influence than the prosodic system is. The grammaticality of speech is reduced and finally the meaning of words is affected. The speech social surrounding seems to be having the greatest impact on the changing of prosodic structure, while education performed in mother tongue mostly adds to the preservation of grammaticality of speech and rich vocabulary.

Title: Acoustic Analysis of Speech Status in Subjects with Orthodontic Anomalies

    Authors:
    Hunski, Marija (144320)
    Journal: Acta Stomatol. Croat.
    Number: 4
    ISSN: 0001-7019
    Volume: 28
    Year: 1994
    Pages: from 261 to 270
    Number of references: 21
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: Because of a certain relationship between orthodontic anomalies and articulatory speech disorders, the aim of this study was to determine the effects of orthodontic therapy on the correction of articulatory speech disorders. The selection of subjects included dysgnathic and eugnathic individuals of both sexes, adolescents and postadolescents. The total number of study subjects was 120, 31 males and 89 females. Orthodontic diagnostic gnathologic variables were measured on plaster jaw models using standard instruments. Speech pattern was evaluted on the basis of records on a "NAGRA" tape recorder at the tape speed of 9.5 cm/sec. An acoustic analysis of sound characteristics was carried out by the AGOS computer laboratory system for speech signal analysis. Results of the study showed the subjects with orthodontic anomalies to be poorer pronunciators than eugnathic subjects. Therapeutic procedure had different effects on the groups of subjects with orthodontic anomalies. Computer analysis of speech articulation according to the duration and spectrum, showed that the duration of pronounced soundburst was on an average longer in the subjects with orthodontic anomalies. On the other hand, sibilant spectral values were lower in these than in eugnathic subjects. This study appeared to shed some light only on one part of the complex problem of articulatory speech disorders.
Keywords: Acoustic analysis, speech, dysgnathic subjects

Title: Hereditary and Social Factors of Voice

    Authors:
    Bertapelle, Nina
    Journal: Govor
    Number: 2
    Volume: 10
    Year: 1993
    Pages: from 31 to 46
    Number of references: 24
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: The article seals with static and some elements of dynamic voice quality. Its aim is to verify the common belief that children's voice is very much alike to their parent's one, and to find out wheter the voice is determined bz anatomy or it is learned by acoustic feedback and imitation. Speech recording of 1 mothers and daughters of each as well as 1 fathers and their 15 sons have been analyzed. The direct acoustic measurements of long-termaverage spectrum, fundamental frequency and intensity have been performed, and then the standard deviation and coefficient of variation of both fundamental frequency and intensity have been calculated. Besides, the first three formants from the short-term spectrum of wovels have been located, and used for the vocal tract lenght calculation. They figure as the only anatomical parameter. By seven-point scale the similarity of voices belonging to related/unrelated pairs in two variants: normal and backwards tape playing, was rated. The results of spectral slope correlation show that male voices differ more among themselves than the female voices do. Besides, the greater degree of similarity between the pairs of related than unrelated pairs of voices has been noticed. However, the relatives do not show the greater degree of similarity regarding the average fundamental frequency, average intensity and their change in time. Neither they are alike regarding the anatomic criterion. The correlation results of the acoustic, anatomical, and psychoacoustic parameters imply the possibility of using different strategies when listening to male or female voices respectively.

    Held: from 05/13/93 to 05/15/93
Summary: It has been found that the average spectrum (LTAS) must be cleared in order to display the characteristics of the static timbre as closly as possible. This has been achived by two procedures: omission of fricative portions of sounds and isolation of more prominent segments of speech (elimination of consonantal segments).
