    Summary: There is no congruity in national and religious identification,in national and confessional, or in religious and confessionalidentification.     Summary: Having differentiated between the theological philosophical andscientific meanings of atheism, this paper attempts to answerwhether or not atheistic ethics do exist. Differences andsimilarities between Marxist and Soviet forms of atheism areanalyzed and coherently presented, and it is within thattheoretical context that atheism is considered in both the theoryand practice of this social environment. It transpires thatsecular religion is essentially a syncretic consciousness inwhich the rudimentary elements of a magic ‡ mythological ‡theological nature are being acquired, sometimes in theirrudimentary form.

    Summary: Analysed in this paper are the official positions of this Council("Gaudium et spes") and the official positions of the council andthe postcouncil Popes (John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul II)concerning war and peace. The precouncil theology allowing justwars ("de bello iusto") is replaced at this council by a newtheology demanding avoidance of all war (de bello vitando") whichis further extended by the succeeding popes to include theChristian ethic of peace ("de pace aedificanda").
