Title: The Revitalisation and Perspectives of Austrian and German Minority in The Republic of Croatia

    Authors:
    Domini, Mirjana (5584)
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: The Austrian and German minority in Croatia were the victims of repression after World War II (in the name of collaboration with the Third Reich). The result of that was their expelling from the territory of the former Yugoslavia, taking away their properties, persecutions and other consequences on their position in Croatia. The Constitutional law on the rights of minorities in Croatia enabled the renewing cultural and national life of these two minorities on the territory of Croatia. The law accepts the time needed for the resumption of cultural, educational and other actvities which existed before World War II. Some aspects of revitalization of the Austrian and German minority are analysed in this paper.
Keywords: minority, repression, World War II, culture, national identity, rights, revitalization

Title: The National Minorities in Europe

    Authors:
    Domini, Mirjana (5584)
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: National minorities in Europe spring up in the course of the 18th and 19th century respectively. It was believed that the question of national minorities was solved after World War I and II, but new changes in Europe (collapse of multinational states) once again actualized the problem of national minorities. Dilemmas on the definition of nation and people and together with these national minorities still exist. The problem of distinction between cultural, linguistic and national/ethnic minorities is present all the time.

Title: Education in a Multicultural Society - Education For Minorities in Croatia

    Authors:
    Domini, Mirjana (5584)
    Language: engleski
Summary: In multicultural communities or those settings characterized by different cultures and individual or collective values, the educational system enables natural acceptance and respect of cultural differences, an increase in tolerance and transmission of different cultural values. In view of this fact, it is understandable that language policy has become a politically sensitive area. A modern educational and school policy which serves the interests of human rights and prepares citizens for life in a multicultural society, must inevitably include the concept of bilingual or multilingual education.

Title: Minorities - The Concept of Minorities in Contemporary International Law

    Authors:
    Vukas, Budislav (53760)
    Language: engleski
Summary: Although the different categories, types of minorities have often been mentioned in international instrument, there was no necessity felt that they should be defined. On the contrary, the dragfting of international instruments for the protection of minorities has often been accompanied by efforts or at least suggestiong to provide the definition of the general concept of "minority". Yet, for the time being, there is no generally accepted definition of that term.
