Summary: On the basis of primary sources (the statistics of
theimmigration country) the text attempts to show certain structuralchanges
as indicators of the recent socio-economic position ofemigrants from the
Yugoslav lands (the territory ofex-Yugoslavia) in Australia. Namely, it is
a known fact thatcertain elements of demographic structure (especially
itseconomic segment) may provide a relatively certain, although notthe only
indicator on the socio-economic position of thepopulation of a given area.
However, taking into considerationthe number of Croatian immigrants and
their ponder in the totalmass of immigrants from the South Slav area, the
fact remainsthat the data on the contemporary socioeconomic position
of"Yugoslav" immigrants, seen through the prism of certainstructural
changes, applies mostly to them.
