Summary: Nowadays in the world (in overseas countries for the most part) there are about three million of Croats and their descendants. Therefore Croatia belongs, relatively (if we take into account the number of its population) to one of traditionally the greatest emigration world areas. Besides these above mentioned facts, it should be emphasized that the history of Croatian immigration, at the same time, makes an integral part of the history of Croatian people as well. Hence the study of its own immigration has not only a narrow scientific, but also a broader (political and other) significance for Croatia. In this context "Social gathering of Croats in overseas countries" (the project) represents one of important segments (analysis of the institutional framework of social gathering) of the future history of Croatian immigration. The subject of the project mainly refers to the creation, importance and role of Croat immigrant organizations in the whole social (national, religious, informative, sport, political, cultural, economic and other) life of Croats in overseas countries from their arrival till recent times (emphasis of the work).

Research goals: The aim of the research is to point at an exceptionally significant role of Croatian immigrant organizations in the whole social (national, religious, informative, cultural, economic and other) life of Croats in overseas countries from their arrival till recent times by analysing the conditions of the creation and development.
