The chaoticpost-Communist situation follows, first of all, from theparallelism of the democratically legitimized politicalauthorities and of the democratically legitimized politicalauthorities and communist structured society. The new politicalelite are neither conceptually prepared, nor have they matured toface the complex problems of Communist society. Philosophical andhistorical discussion on post-Communism proceeds from thefollowing basic dilemma: whether post_Communism is a transitionalor a pivotal period. Two theories of the transitional period areespecially discussed: the theory of revolutionary transition andthe theory of reformative transition (the theory of transition). With the theory of transition, which interprets post_Communism asa transitional period in an historical continuum, the authorjuxtaposes the idea on reconstitution that marks the principledand legitimated break-out with the previous Communist world andsociety, and it also marks the autonomous and creativeestablishment of society and the world on new grounds, with a) anactualization of the pre-Communist tradition; b) a revalutationof the Communist tradition; c) an appreciation for the democraticexperience of the non-Communist world.

Summary: Unlike the other philosophical centers of the then Yugoslavia, there were no established representatives of orthodox dialectic materialism in Zagreb, so that the young generation of Marxists won the exclusive right to control the development of the entire Croatian post-war philosophy. In theoretical and political conflicts, with the defenders of orthodox Marxism at first - mostly Serbian and Slovene philosophers - and with the Serbian neo-Marxists later on, the Croatian praxis-philosophers won Yugoslav and, later, world-wide recognition for their version of Marxism, convincingly establishing theoretical and culturological distinctiveness and autochthony of Croatian praxis philosophy.

Summary: The intention of Croatian Praxis philosophers to overcome morality and ethics has appeared as a part of the Marxist revolutionary concept of "Aufhebung" which was promoted as the instrument of the revolutionary process of changing of World with purpose of realization of the Eschaton of the new History. Criticising this position the author of this paper puts two objections. First, the criticism of morality in Praxis philosophy has been made from the standpoint of ethical normativism. Second, the overcoming of moral acting, i.e. replace of it with historical, revolutionary practice, presuppose the real danger of nihilism and voluntarism. However, moral acting always remains unfinished and unfinishing, not as "der schlechte", but as "der gute undendlichkeit".

Summary: The central motif of the discourse of Max Horkheim from the early 1940s onwards is the problem of the Subject. The text first gives the brief description of Horkheimer's beginning point of view in 1930s and the main reasons for abandoning it. The basic theses of the new viewpoint, which is determined by examination of the genesis of the key formation of entire Western history - the Subject, are described in great detail.

Summary: Reasons are given for the claim that popular definitions of communism are not satisfactory. Communism is at a distance from social normaley, but not more than some other social movements. It is not defined by its utopian, anarchoid, leftist, conspiratorial of dectatorial leanings. The communists are not a separate kind of people, they are not defined by either their emotioanlity (envy) or ideology (materialism). Their economic theory of emergence of social classes is inadequate classes may be found also outside the human societies. The marxist theory neglects the aspect of material goods by which they form the basis of culture and of national prestige. Cummunism is no "lie", it is rather a mask for the unease about the national culture and about the prestige hiding this unease behind vocifarous declarations of the firm faith in the "limitless creative capabilities of the people". Theoretical views of Ahminov and Nairn are discussed.

Summary: Unease about the prestige of the national culture, as a motivs force of communism, is efficient only if compensated by the belief in national creativity, whereby unease and doubts are made subconscious. Previous theories based on this idea are not satisfactory, mainly because of the ideologized discourse (nationalism as "immaturity". Inner tensions of theories of national neurosis and of its applicability for the analysis of national inferiority feelings (Fromm, Horney, Pareto) are pointed out. The analysis of some classical works of literature reveals a lack of national self-reassurance (Goethe, Faust, some Russian authors).

Summary: The diferentiation within lower classes favouring revolutionary attitudee is considered. Antiauthoritarian, mystically inspired movements often reveal traits of communist parsussions, they are often accompanied by formation of egalitarian communes. Phases of dictatorship, frequently appearing in such communes, are regulary followed by disintegration. Data summarized by D. Tomašić concerning numerous mystical sects in pre-revolutionary Russia are mentioned.

Summary: Religious differenties among various nations and confessions in ex-Yugoslavia are not crucial cause of the conflict. Nevertheless, these are important as the fundamental factor of identification of national and cultural identities, that made necessary the dissolution of Yugoslavia as multinational and multiconfessional community. The empirical data of sociological research show dominant values which prevail in particulary confessions, as well as compatible attitudes toward ecumenism and ethnic and religious tolerance

Summary: The critique of the concept of alienation in Croatian Praxis-philosophy is focused in this study on two basic points. The first is refered to the normativistically constructed human nature and essence which is postulated by Croatian Praxis-philosophers as a paradigm of de-alienation. The second point presuppose an eschatological ideal of perfect de-alienated man and the same de-alienated genuine human community, which realization is a goal, i.e. a postulated result of the revilutionary thinking and acting.

    Author: ZEMAN ZDENKO
    Date of defense: 02/01/95
    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 185
Summary: The most important motif of the discourse of german philosopher Max Horkheimer is the problem of Subject. The text briefly describes the approach to that position, and its key theses are analyzed in very detailed and exhaustive manner. The analysis shows that Horkheimer's (and Adorno's) reconstruction of the genesis of the Subject represents especially radical critique of entire Western culture and civilization. The most important aspect of that civilization is the relation between (western) Man and Nature.
