Summary: Communism as a historical phenomenon passed through its phases of development : from the conceptional preparation made in political and social and philosophical theories, through the historical realization up to its final breakdown. Concerning the fact that communism, as the constitutive, that is the word-creative principle, took up all spheres of material and spiritual life, it is obvious that communism, as the theoretical problem, as well as the research object, will show its extreme complexity and totality. This complexity and totality of the problem needs a related research strategy. Therefore the research is segmented through the specific areas of the material and spiritual life. It is also classified toward chronological stages of the genesis and the breakdown and its consequences as well. But simultaneously the research is integrated through multidisciplinal discussion, which is going forward through its different institutionalized forms within the project.

Keywords: communism, ideology, world view, marxism, Frankfurt school, alienation, Praxis, religion, nation, manipulation of nationality, nationalism, hegemony, yugoslav identity, civil society, modernization, science, economy, transition, neocolonialism, new world order

Research goals: The research has its epistemological aim through the multidisciplinal approach to reach the integrative and full cognition on the genesis and breakdown and consequences of communism. By creating scientific based conception of the problem of communism it is going to prevent most efficaciously its political and ideological instrumentalization. In the first year of the research the documentation centre was established. In the framework of the project the interdisciplinary communication in the form of conferences and colloqiums was also organized. Some particular studies were published in the scientific journals. Symposiums and the publishing of the collection of works concerning the project are planned. Very soon two thesis (master work and doctoral dissertation= are expected to be defended.
