Summary: Research looks for concrete solutions to some problems connected with studies of Oriental cults (Egyptian, Mithras, Magna Mater, Attis, Sabasios etc.), with studies of Silvanus-cult and with studies of continuity of some traits of prehistoric religion (specially eneolithic-Vučedol culture-in Middle Europe and Danube region) into the classical periods of Greece. Contribution to the research is also study of ancient sculpture, specially cultic and votive monuments of our regions which show merging of foreign and indigenous deities. Another contribution to the research is study of prosopography of Oriental cults in Pannonia and Dalmatia, specially study of cults of Hercules and Diana (Tifetina) in the same region and of their merging with early Christian cults.

Research goals: We look for concrete solutions to open questions: continuity of autochthonous-prehistoric cults, Greek and Roman cults and Oriental cults, how and when they appear in Croatian regions, their mutual cnnections and relations, directions of their penetration. Expected contribution is series of papers of our collaborators on individual problems from cited research, and constitution of methodology for creating synthesis on ancient cult appearances on territory of Croatia. Goal of this work is summing up og all results of the project.
