The saints relics were placed in the richly elaborated tomb under the altar. The book deals also with the rich sculpture showing very fine motifs of both of figural and ornamental schemes. Also fine finds of fresco paintings, glass, pottery and coins were found. All these finds are dealt in detail. Summary: In this text Diocletian's palace is deal;t, especially the architecture and the religious concept of the archiotecture and sculpture. There is straight relation between the Palace and Salona, the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. The author attemped to draw the parallel between the way of Diocletian's rule and the architecture, because he, after the decision to retire, was no longer the emperor. But, there obious traces of a kind of the court ceremonies. In the apper there was made an effort to find out the characteristics of the emperor's portraits which is very difficult, since in the end of the 3rd and the beginning of the 4th century the physiognomic characterist are not more realistic. Yet some portraits on the Diocletian's coinage reflect his image. He was not fat, but bony with long and slightly curvilinear nose.

Some inscriptions testify the existence of numerous Roman cults. The inscriptions also show the existence of curia, thermae, sanctuaries etc. An inscription suggests that in Senia was organized custom office for Dalmatia. Ethnic structure of the town could be also deduced from inscriptions. In the 2nd and 3rd centuries the half of inhabitants were Italics and half Orientals. In the beginning the main offices were held by Italics, but after Orientals grew in importance, since they became more richer.

    Number of references: 70
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: The paper deals with the importance of the astronomy in the interpretation of the bull-killing image in Roman mithraism. It was established that Graeco-Roman world imagined Taurus constalation as bull head or sometimes with front legs. The rest of the bull's body, visible in the cult image, symbolizes the ecliptic. The star Spica, placed in the ecliptic, on the bull-killing scene is represented by gain-spike at the end of the bull's tail. The opinion that Mithras figure represent also the Perseus constallation is wrong, since Perseus constallation is situated neither in equator nor in the ecliptic. The conclusion of the paper is that astral symbolism of the Mithric cult image is consistent. The beckbone of the structure of this image consists of two celestial circles - equator and ecliptic with their fugures-constallations.

Summary: In the St. Antony and Rochus church at Gornja Podstrana two very important fragments were built in. The first is the relief showing the shepherd god Silvanus and Nymphs. The second is the gable of the altar screen showing plastic cross flanked by two birds. The former relief testifies the existence of a Paneum on the very site of the church or nearby. The latter one implies the existence of a pre-Romanesque church. One of the very well known phaenomenon is that Christian churches were built on pagan sanctuaries, especially panei in Dalmatia. The gable relief is an indication that here could be expected also an Early Christian church. So the inscription dating from 1666 above the southern entrance of the modern church must be linked with a renewal, not the completely new construction.

The first is helmsman, the second the sailor who throws Jonas. The third is on the prow with the stretched arms. It was hard to say whom he represent. The most interpretations were inclined that he is a man praying. However, the author explained that he was the pilot of the sheep who watched the coast and the bottom of the sea to correct the route. He signalized with his arms to the helmsman. The author's conclusions are bazed on the sculptural parallels showing the sailing sheep abd the Jonas' reliefs and pictures.

Summary: The prostyle temple in the Diocletian's Palace in Split is situated on the oppsite side of the Emperor;s Mausoleum. Since there are no written records (epigraphic or other historical sources) on the authentic dedication, it was supposed that it was dedicated to Jupiter. Author analyzed the remains of scultural decorations and found out that the decoration shows different religious motifs. Thus he supposed that it was dedicated to several gods or godesses. It has oviously pantheistic character. That is also in concordance with the Diocletian's authentic attitude towards Roman (pagan) religion.
