Summary: This research undertakes defining of the character of prehistoric settlements from different periods of prehistory in mainland Croatia. During this expired period research concentrated on Upper Paleolithic site in Vindija cave , on numerous settlements of the Neolithic Linear pottery culture in central Croatia, on Lengyel culture settlement in Ozalj, on rites and cult objects from the site of Vučedol, on Late Bronze Age settlements in NW Croatia (Igrišče on Kalnik) and Older Iron Age sites in Ogulin-Plaški valley on Younger Iron Age settlements in Slavonija (Osijek-Donji Grad, Vukovar-Lijeva Bara)and finally in Zagreb itself (Gradec). In all that cases we tried to perceive a settlement in the frame of its own and organized space. On numerous sites we collected samples for dendrochronological analysis.

Research goals: We are trying to define cultural characteristics and settlement types and their connections with broader Pannonian, Alpian and Middle-European archaeological context. Collaborators are angaged in research on accessible sites and on existing but still not evaluated material in boundaries of single prehistoric periods. Achieved results are already presented in published (quoted in further text) papers, and number of them is being prepared for publication. Goal of this project is to produce the most characteristic examples of settlements and of organization of settlement space in prehistory of mainland Croatia.
