Summary: Sacral architecture of the Križevci region has left a

Summary: Church of the Holy cross in Križevci conveys the
remarkablehistorical strata and urbanistic particularities. Erected
outsidethe town fortifications, inside its own stronghold, it savedthrough

Summary: Bishop's residence and the church is situated in the
Franciscanmonastery which has abolished in 1783. and then in 1789.
handedover to the Greek-catholics. The building was reconstructedseveral
times. The church fasade in the Palladian classicisticstyle was rebuilt by
Felbinger in 1817, and its final form in theneogothic style was given to
the church by H.Bolle in 1892-97.Inner equipment and fittings were carried
out after Bolle's design, and the icons painted by Medović, Čikoš,
Tišov,Kovačević, and iconographic program was also elaborated
byF.Kovačević, M.Peroš, A.Sitzer.

Summary: Description of the woodcarved monuments and sculptures in
thechurches in Križevci and its surroundings, altars, pulpits,statues. Most
of the altars are wooden, but some are stone ormarble. Particulary
estimable is the altar by Francesco Robba inthe Holy Cross church in
Križevci, which was once situated in theZagreb cathedral. Majirity of
monuments appertain to the Bariqueperiod (17th and 18th centuries) with the
exception of severalGothic statues from the Holy Cross church.

Summary: The author explains the development of the town as the
previousorganisation of a castrum appearing in the 12th century up to
themiddle of the 19th century when Križevci turned into a moderntown.
Križevci were up to the middle of 18th century composed oftwo settlements
the Upper and Lower one. The development andgrowth of the town are in the
first place due to the transit andcommunications position on important
crossroads. During the 18thcentury its tranfiruration was influenced by the
soldiers on thefrontier. After at the end of the 18th century- their
pressureceised and the army left civil growth of the town continues.

Summary: Out of the very abundant painting heritage dating from
itsearlist period nothing has been saved. The most are the paintingsfrom
17th and 18th centuries, encouraged mostly by Pavlini (Whitefriars).
Preserved are numerous oil painted altar palae, out ofwhich some have to be
particulary emphasised: the painting in St.Florian, by Ivan Ranger from
1740. very significant are thefresco paintings in the church of St.Mary
from Koruška from thethirties of the 18th century. During the 20th century
large isthe contribution of the contemporary artists.

Summary: The first craftsman - goldsmith mentioned in Križevci
wasmentioned in the document from 1408. The oldest examples of
thegoldsmithry preserved until the present time date from the 16thcentury.
The largest number of the preserved object appertain tothe time of Baroque
(the 17th and 18th centuries), predominantlysacral liturgical object made
of the gilt silver. Several piecesthat are preserved belong to the 19th
century. Most of theseobjects were imported to Križevci from some other
towns (likeVaraždin, Zagreb, Graz, Augsburg, Wien) but known also
domicilemasters. During its entire growth Križevci were with itsdeveloped
goldsmithry in course with the European movements.

Summary: Pavlini painter I.K. Ranger painted the pharmacy of
VaraždinFranciscans in 1750. According to a short description of thePavlini
pharmacy in Lepogalav from 1729. anticipated is theconception of the wall

Summary: Although the term "zlatni oltar" ("the golden altar")
recursquite frequently in the Croatian art history, it is very oftenused
for the carved wooden altars of the Venetian origin from the17th century.
Such are the main altar (dated in the early 17thc.) and the altar of
St.Aurelio (1654) in the Parrish church ofSt.George in Brseč. The other two
wooden altars in the samechurch were executed somewhat later.

Summary: This paper deals with a painting situated at the main altar
ofthe parrish church in Loborika by Moreschi, a painter that wasactive
during the firsthalf of the 17th century. In the secondpart of the paper
I'm discussing the works by Baldassare d'Annain Istria stressing especially
the painting in Oprtaljrepresenting St.George, which is very interesting
transpositionof the famous painting by Tintoretto situated in The
NationalGallery in London. Finally, I'm suggesting that a
paintingrepresenting the Immaculate Conception and four Saints situatedon
the altar of St.Simon in the church of St.Mary Magdalen inMutovran may also
be by d'Anna.

Summary: Together with the scrupulous analysis of the destroyed
ruralagglomeration during the war- out of 239 protected rural
entitiesdestroyed are 101, partly damaged are 62, burnt down are 39 and36
demolished - the author brings forward the evaluation of thespace and the
need to revise the space plans. A new point of viewmeans observing and
evaluating the space and its natural andlandscape values integrally;
building structure and individualmonuments should be estimated afterwards.
All these settlementsought to be subjected to conservationist regime and
protection.

Summary: Monuments of the traditional culture, vineyard huts have
beenbuilt with horizontal timbers beside Raven Fustica and
Glogovica(st.Vitus), or in horizontally disposed wooden or stone slabslike
the ones in Obrež under Kalnik. In Obrež there are 52protected huts and
some 18 of them are covered by the ryethetched roof. Notable is the
vineyard settlement Zaistovecspatially linked with a special type of the
rural dwellingenssambles. The study includes a proporsal how to renew
thesettlement of Obrež.

Summary: Croatia's Art Heritage database of the Institute for Art
Historyimplies the development of a complex informatical modularstructure.
Besides monument inventarisation, its aim shouldalso be precise definition
of each monument/work of art it willinclude, by the categories of history
of art. The development ofa database conceptual structure is a complex
scientific-and-research and documentary task which unreveals a certain
problemsthat should be resolved: standardization of the minimal number
ofdescriptive categories for each monument/work of art, productionof the
terminology standards for our discipline (on the nationallevel), formation
of the iconogarapy thesaurus, and appropriationof those very few
internetional standrads for data content thatalready exist within this
field of research. The expected resultis, first of all, to develop a
databse that would serve as ausefull resource of information to the
national services formonuments protection, conservation and restauration,
and also, toproduce a mean by which the Institute itslef will be involved
ininternational excahange of scientific information.

ofDubrovnik churches, their inventory, particulary the altars. Manyof the
described churches disappeared in time. He informed us ofnumerous panel

Summary: The protection of a saint over a certain place, has except
thereligious one other aspects as well: psychological, cultural,social,
economical, touristic and even a political one. In theKvarner region some
783 sacred places are located (churches orruins) and 105 dedicated to
various saints (Mary-97, Nicholas-49,Michael-32, George-31 etc.). Most of
the churches were built inthe 15th century (141), following are from the
13/14th ct. (113),and finally 11/12th ct. (72).

Summary: As a result of the conducted cultural analysis of the
context inwhich the painting of Trsat could generate we presume that
itreched Trsat in time of Bartolo VIII Frankopan, it was probablyoffered
for adoration in the chapel in time of Steven I andpope Urban V,
transferred into a new chapel in time ofprince and ban Nicholas IV, and
finally it was placed on thealtar of the new church in time of Martin V.
judging by the oldcopies it was known as a cult painting much earlier,
before theFranciscans arrival, in this way denied is the claim that it
waspainted only in 1465.

Summary: In the first part of the paper the authoress discusses
someaspects of the post-Tridentine liturgy and their influence on
thepictorial representation, on the example of two paintingsrepresenting
"The Last Supper". In the second part she takes upthe hypothesis about the
work of art viewed as substitute putforward by E.H.Gombich and a new
proposal put forward byD.Summers in his recent paper. Finally, the
authoress offers herview of the issue, suggesting at the same time to take

Summary: Catalogue and description of the holy places, sanctuaries
on acertain area, the date and the reason of their origin and
theirdissapperance, frequency, their impact on the space and life ofpeople
in its space. Patronage of a saint or deity over a spaceor a segment of
life has been lasting from the prehistory to thepresent. Such places have
always a conspicuous geographical orurban position. Patron saints over
particular space have not onlyreligious but some other aspects of influence
on the life in therelevant space: psycological, cultural, social,
economical andpolitical, too. The conquerors of the new territories distroy
thesanctuaries immediately, and afterwards on their places erecttheir own.

Summary: Thesuarus of iconographic themes of croatian art,
which,relying on the experience of our netherland's colleagues andtheir
project ICONCLASS, has as its aim to give a list of all theiconographic
topics thata could be found in croatian art - fromantiquity to the 20th
century. Databse organization is followingthe ICONCLASS organization scheme
- nine main categories, eachof them further dividede into eight classese.
Themes and theirsupporting key-terms are immediately translated on
english,and illustrated by the aexample of actual works of artdeposited in
the photo-documentation of the Institute for Arthistory. Bilingual
Thesaurus of the iconographic terms(croatian/english) will serve as one of
the vocabulary controlmechanisms within the Craitian art-history Heritage
databse,and as independant research tool as well.

oldestappertain to the 4th ct. Most of them were built in theRomanesque
