Summary: By past investigations: a) a question has been answered of
how and when the shire system of Croatian Sclavinia territory was formed b)
taking into consideration the shires of Nin, Sidraga, Bribir, Primorje,
Cetina, Knin and Luka, all of them having been treated in detail and as a
separate unit.

Research goals: This project is only the beginning of a larger study
of the shire system within the early Medieval Croatian state. The
investigation of today's Lika region, as well as the completion of the
research of the shires of Pset and Imeta is planned as part of this
project.Future research will concentrate on the functioning and
