Summary: The philosophy A. Schopenhauer's has been intensively
effecting Croatian literature and philosophy since 1880. Most of the
nameful Croatian realistic, as well as modernistic novelists and dramatists
were reflecting Schopenhauer's idea of self assertive will. Some of them
have also adopted his aesthetic theory as their own. At the beginning of
the 20th century the cult od Schopenhauer reaches its climax, nevertheless
it is subjected by M. Krleža to the severe criticism. The monograph "The
Adoption of Arthur Schopenhauer within the Croatian Literature and
Philosophy" contains also a detailed list of the most relevant essays on
Schopenhauer, as well as the translation of his works into Croatian and
Serbian.
