The predicate ( a verb) represents the main part of sentence. The only type of interdependency to be found in a simple sentence is connection. TesniŠre has also created a recognizable form of graphic representation of syntactic structures. TesniŠre's syntactic theory can be fruitfully applied to the french syntax teaching and to the syntactic researches.

Summary: The article treats the problem of verbal aspect in Craoatian and French. In Croatian the choice of aspect is required, the perfective aspect is opposed to the imperfective. Each verb belongs to one of those categories. Some verbs, depending on the context, may be both perfective and imperfective. In french, in spite of the traditional terminology, the opposition between pass‚ simple (pass‚ compos‚) and imparfait has to do with the tenses because the perfective and the imperfective aspect are opposed as a grammatical category only in the past. This opposition is no longer significant when the historical present is used.
