   Title: THE RELIGIOUS ART AND HERRITAGE OF ST.IVAN ZELINA AND THE SURROUNDING

   Summary: The religious 17th and 18th century painting in the churches and chapels of St.Ivan Zelina, Donja Zelina, Bedenica and Bisag reflects the state of the baroque inventory in Northern Croatia in general. There are no many traces of the 17th century painting - only one altarpiece presenting Virgin Mary remained in St. Peters chapel in Novo Mjesto. The 18th century easel painting is presented by several altarpieces in the church of Holy Kings in Komin and the chapel of Holy Gost in Mirkovec Brezovački. Illusionistic 18th century mural painting in Komin and Visoko churches by its stylistic attributes are directly linked to artistic developments in the mayor art centres in Central Europe.

   Title: THE BAROQUE SCULPTURE OF ST. IVAN ZELINA AND ITS SURROUNDING

   Summary: Parishes of St. Ivan Zelina are situated on an old cultural soil, with churches and chapels that existed in the middle ages. The earliest preserved altar with the elements of architectural construction and ornaments from the middle of the 17th century is located in the old chapel of St. Peter in Novo Mjesto. The 18th century altars can be found in Bedenica, Mrikovac Breznički, Prigorje and Komin. The main altar from 1770, in the chapel of Holy Virgin in Prepolno, the work of Franjo Antun Straub, a sculptor of south German origin, stands within the most important monuments of that kind on the territory of northern Croatia.
