Title: Carolingian "western corps" on the early croatian
pre-romanesque churches in Dalmatia
Publisher: De Boccard
ISBN: 2-7018-0090-0
Year: 1995
Pages: from 277 to 295
Language: francuski
Summary: The paper concerns the "western corps" of the
pre-romanesque churches in dalmatia, belonging to the early Croatian
period, where the carolingian impact is strongly visible. The key-monuments
are the churches of St.Saviour (Sv.Spas) in Cetina and St.Lawrence in Zada,
showing best examples of "westwork" in Croatian architecture. Basic
features of such influence can be seen in the position of a tower on the
west facade and in a loggia above the nartex. On some other early Croatian
churches, of which only the ground plan is known today, the same impact can
be noticed.

Number: 32
ISSN: 0555-1145
Volume: 1
Year: 1992
Pages: from 165 to 180
Language: hrvatski
Summary: South portal of the Split Cathedral was dated to the 7th or
8th century by earlier scholars. But in the early 20th c. most of them
dated it to Romanesque period, its lintel to the 12th and door-posts to the
13th centuries.
On the basis of analyses of construction, shape and decoration, and
analogies with reliefs from earlier Pre-Romanesque period, the author
suggests again the dating to the 7th or 8th centuries.
