    Summary: Introducing briefly the pre-romanesque architecture in Croatia, the author analyses in detail the typology of the ecclesiastical buildings, followed by drawings and photograps almost by all existing examples. Following chapters deal with regional types, chronology and foreign impacts, among which the carolingian influence is particularly important. The last chapter is dedicated to the early medieval towns and settlements, especially those,developed from the classical nuclei. This was based on the results, obtained during the project, related to the experiences of Split. A catalogue of all Split preromanesque churches is added.

    Summary: The paper concerns the "western corps" of the pre-romanesque churches in dalmatia, belonging to the early Croatian period, where the carolingian impact is strongly visible. The key-monuments are the churches of St.Saviour (Sv.Spas) in Cetina and St.Lawrence in Zada, showing best examples of "westwork" in Croatian architecture. Basic features of such influence can be seen in the position of a tower on the west facade and in a loggia above the nartex. On some other early Croatian churches, of which only the ground plan is known today, the same impact can be noticed.

    Summary: In the early medieval architecture of the European East and West a particular ecclesistical type was developed, named "quincunx" (Connant), concerning a construction with four columns. They support a nine-parted vault system with a cupola in the middle.     Summary: South portal of the Split Cathedral was dated to the 7th or 8th century by earlier scholars. But in the early 20th c. most of them dated it to Romanesque period, its lintel to the 12th and door-posts to the 13th centuries. On the basis of analyses of construction, shape and decoration, and analogies with reliefs from earlier Pre-Romanesque period, the author suggests again the dating to the 7th or 8th centuries.

    Summary: As a contribution to the research of master Radovan's time, this paper deals with dwelling houses from 13th century, preserved in Trogi in a considerable number of examples. Four basic types are distinguished: 1.The most frequent are monocellular houses with two or more floors; 2.To the monocellular type belong also tower-houses, preserved along the medieval perimetric walls 3. More repesentative seems a type of palaces with larger facades 4.Aristocratic palaces with inner courtyards. The author stresses the neccessity of further researh of medieval houses, including systematic architectural surveys.

    Summary: Discussing the place of early Croatian Solin in the pre-romanesque, the paper deals first with the cathegory of adaptations, among which is particularly important the early byzantinechurch of St.Mary, to which an atrium eas added. Analysing the churches, built in the early middle ages, the author stresses the importance of St.Stephen (dated 976.ante quem) for the typology of aisled basilicas with a dome and with "westwork". The St.Peter and Moyse church - the coronation basilica of the Croatian king Zvonimir -is also an important protoromanesque basilica, with an inscribed chevet and "westwork" and with important fragments of sculpture.

    Summary: A particular composition of the western part of european Pre- Romanesque churches, characteristical for the carolingian period, is generally called "westwork". The author has analysed thereflexions of "westwork" in the early Croatian architecture inDalmatia. The key-monument is the church of St.Saviour at Cetinawhere the westwork is still preserved in the elevation. A numberof other buildings, situated in the very centre of the earlyCroatian state have same typological features. Considerableremains of westwork are preserved also in the church of St.Lawrence in Zadar. The examples quoted are significant from thepoint of view of the european Pre-Romanesque art.

    Summary: Having collected more than 4500 names in Split from the period between 7th and 15th century (1420), presented in a Catalogue, the author analyses names, surnames and nicknames of medieval Split. In the chapter of personal names four cathegories have been anaysed: preroman substratum, roman and romanesque names of prechroistian origin, shcristian names, Croatian linguistic layer and names of other origins. A particular attention is paid to the Split medieval families as well as to the etno-social image of Split in ethe light of linguistic research.
