Summary: The relation between art and reality in the 20th century.
Protagonists in iconography of painting and sculpture and their content
considering the place and time.
Keywords: totalitarianism-freedom, masses-individual, fiction-reality, general idea-detail
Research goals: To answer the question who were the protagonists of
the 20th century arts based on the iconography of the works of art. In the
up to date, contemporary art there is no public commision from the society
as a whole, authors themselves freely choose the iconographic motifs the
fact that makes their choice more interesting. Social commision exists in
the totalitarian societies, with the prescribed iconography, out of which
the smallest number of works appear that could be really named as artistic,
or there are none. On the basis of the detailed analysis of the selected
works of European art the author proves that the art although apparently
abstract reveals the deepest layers of the reality. Other information about the project.
