words, of what music phenomena the musicword in question
consists?

Summary: Inher article Narrative songs on the island of Murter,
Vedrana
Milin states that narrative poems on that island remain today
only in the memory of older islanders. In spite of this fact, and most of
all by virtue of the present-day relevance of individual texts of the
songs, it has been known to happen that an outmoded, old-fashioned,
rejected narrative song finds its way back to life in a special way. The
autor explains the reasons, alongside the
present.day relevance of the text, which have to a situation
whwrw narrative songs can, albeit in extremely rare
circumstances, be heard on the island of Murter.

choral

with respect to his work, and then goes on to deal whith te
general features of his compositions. After giving the basic
features of his a cappella compositions for choirs, she goes on
to analyse them in detail in order to determine the extent to
which Jakov Gotovac made use folk-music. Since to this date
(1993), no complete list of Jakov Gotovac's opus has been

Since the time of Dobronić's report, much has changed in that

lines of development of local music from the ethnomusicologypoint of view
in the Report is very relevant, and, in many respects,
almost identical with present-day conditions. It is for this
reason that we have decided to print Dobronić's report more than forty

knowledge on musical developing and maturing of this milieu. The archiver
of the cathedral and the Town Museum are complementary
to one another, which is obvious throughappearing of the names of the same
composers and their works. The great partof those
archives make work of the older chapelmaster of St.Doimos
Cathedral. They left admiring number of church works, which has
been composed for the needs of service in Split cathedral. That's the
reason for excessive number of curch compositions from that
period in the cathedral archives.

Summary: Silvije Bombardelli (1916) is composer, conductor and
author
articles and essays in the field of the aesthetics and philosophy of music,
and musical theory. His development as a composer is
marked by a continuous search for an original melodic and
harmonic system which would serve as the most appropriate
foundatio for his musical expression. Bombardell's decaphonic
scale, as is implied by the name, contains ten notes arranged in a scale
made up of eight semitones and two whole tones. The
position of major seconds within the scale can vary, and this
means that the whole tone intervals can occur between any two
positions in the scale, and their permutation generates 45
different variations of decaphone scale.

Summary: The text of this study shows following: a) that the form of
women's clappas at the Festival of Dalmatian Clappas in Omiš (as well as
at other festival and concerts) imitates that of men's
clappas; b)that there is no place for authentic women's singing
at the Omiš Festival since women do not sing clappa songs; c) the name
"clappa" for women is in itself questionable (although
women have in recent years made great strides in performing
Dalmatian clappa songs); d) the manner and form of women's
singing includes the applicatio of broader ethnomusicological,
sociological, and even psyhological aspect.
From the study we can draw the conclusio that this is a complex
problem, and that it cannot be solved overnight; this will entail a proces
which will in coming years present new musicological
challenges.

is the non-existence of programmes which have been defined in advance.

state of musical life and musical interests of a particular community. The
musical repertoire is a reflection and an

Summary: Frane Parać from Split who is one of rising generation of
composer and one of the most significant representatives of
postmodernism in Croatia. His development in composition can be
divided into two stages. In the first, Parać was orientated
towards the contemporary articulation of music whith a pronounced emphasis
on the vocal elements. This was a period of free
atonality in which his musical expression was formed under the
influence of European authorities (Berio, Ligeti, Maderna). The
main charahteristics of Parać's musical expression in this perio are:
tonality, the simplicity of the score and a modest level of tehnical
difficulty of the compositions which, as a result, have become more
accessible for both the performers and the listeners. The analysed
composition "Music for Orhestra" (1985) brings out
all the mentioned characteristics arising from the composer's
adopted orientation.

that more than 30 compositions in the European early mediaeval

form they can for the most part be classified as either
rondeaux or descants. They are proof that there was no break in
style in Croatian musical culture on the contrary, they show that the rich
opus of monodic music from numerous choral codices in
Croatia, as in other countries in western Europe, served as the
foundation for the early mediaeval polyphonic style. The
compositions are published here in own transcription.

He established himself with a certain number fo vocal

that stand out. In the forefront is the composer's "intimate"

Summary: Andro Sentinella (1897-1970) from trogir, is a musician who
worked in long line of worty chapelmasters in Dalmatia. He was
the pupil of C.M.Hrazdira and J.B.Foerster, the founder Czech
Modernism. It is quite understandable that though he recognized
Modernism, he generally could not apply its principles in his
works because of the cultural atmosphere he lived in. Sentinella Was
musically able to reach artistic values of national
