Summary: "Conflict Tactics Scales" (Strauss, 179) were used to
assess reasoning, verbal aggression and violence in conflict situations
between dating partners on 148 female and 127 male students of the
University of Zagreb. The results have shown that 87% males and 96% females
using of beeing subjected to verbal aggression, and 34% females and 26%
males report using or being subjected to violence in a conflict situation
with their dating partner. Strategies of prevention of family violence are
suggested.

Summary: In the course of 1992, a study was carried out on a broad
sample of children (N=5770). These were elementary school children from
war-thorn zones and from those not directly affected by the war. The
children showing symptoms of subjective stress were then identified. Twenty
five wartime experiences of children were studied as well as the frequency
of their occurence in children from different regions and also in refugee
and displaced children. The data on the wartime experiences were factorized
and five factors identified. The stress symptoms in children were also
identified after talking to parents and teachers. The evaluations of stress
obtained from teachers were factorized and nine factors were identified.
The paper sets out the program of psychological assistance given to
children inCroatia with a view to preventing or alleviating the serious
psychological consequences of the traumatic wartime experiences.

Summary: The aim of the study is to investiagate genetic and
some nonshared environmental influences on individual differences in
aggressiveness. The sample of 160 pairs of monozygotic and pairs of
dizygotic twins are assessed by the means of the Aggressiveness
Questionnaire (A-87, Žužul, 1987) and a Sibling Inventory of Differential
Experience (SIDE, Daniels and Plomin,1984). The analysis suggests a
substantional genetic contribution on individual differences in
aggressiveness, with heritability indices ranging from .24 to .76 for
diferent A-87 scales. Also, the regression of MZ twin aggressiveness
diference on SIDE scales found two significant factors of nonshered
environment, maternal affection and peer deliquency.

Summary: There are few different hypothesis about relationship
between aggressive and prosocial behavior in literature. The most
influential of them are two which are mutually exclusive. According to
first, aggressive and prosocial behavior are two independent dimensions of
behavior, while according to second they represent opposite ends of a
single dimension of behavior. The aim of this study was to check those two
hypothesis on a sample of preschool children. The sample consisted of 1147
five to six years old children, whose behavior was rated on PROSAG Scale by
their preschool teachers. Correlation between aggressive and prosocial
behavior was -0.56, and it was concluded that aggressive and prosocial
behavior are two negatively related dimensions of behavior, but they not
exclude one another.

Summary: Mother's reports of temperamental characteristics of 104
healthy preterm infants were compared with those for comparable sample of
120 full-term infants. Mothers completed the IBQ (Rothbart, 1981) when
their infants were 6 or 12 months of age. Significant difference between
the two groups was found only on Activity Level Scale, with "preterm"
mothers rated their infants as more active than "full-term" mothers. The
structure of temperament was virtually the same in preterm and full-term
samples. Therefore, it was concluded that prematurity per se, if not
accompanied with serious medical problems, does not affect perceived
temperament in the second half of the first year of life.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate genetic and some
nonshared environmental influances on individual differences in
agressiveness. A sample of 160 twin pairs completed a) a questionnaire of
aggressiveness (A-87, Žužul, 1987; b) a sibling inventory of differential
experience (SIDE, Plomin & Daniels, 1984). The analysis suggests a
substantial genetic contribution to the individual differences in
aggressiveness. Also, two scales of the SIDE Inventory (maternal affection
and peer deliquency) proved to be the significant predictors of
aggressiveness in adolescents.

Summary: 71 pairs of monozygotic (MZ) and 78 pairs of dizygostic
(DZ) twins were tested with four tests which were designed to measure two
factors of verbal abilities (vocabulary and word fluencyand two factor of
spatial abilities (visualization and spatial orientation). The heritable
variation of each of this tests were substantial. Several models about
genetical covariance structure were compared using LISREL. Results showed
that a model which hypothesizes both general and verbal or spatial group
genetic factor fits data the bests. So, it seems plausible to conclude that
verbal and spatial abilities have partly separate genetical basis.

sample. The analysis was carried out on 71 MZ twin pairs (35 male and 36
female) and 78 dizygotic twin pairs (43 male and 35 female). The twins were
tested with four tests which were designed to measure two factors of verbal
abilities (word fluency and vocabulary) and two factors of spatial
abilities (visualization and spatial orientation). For each of the test,
substantional heritable variation was found. Univariate model fitting
resulted with estimates of 63%, 49%, 52% and 61% for visualization, spatial

Summary: The goal of the study was to investigate hereditability of
verbal(verbal fluency and vocabular) and spatial abillities(visualisation
and spatial orientation. An analysis of theperformences of the 160 pairs of
monozygotic and dyzigotic twins, age 15-19, was performed. The results
indicate that the geneticsimilarity of the subjects is related to the
similarity of theirperformences on the verbal and spacial tests and that
geneticfactors are sufficient for the explanation of the
similaritiesbetween the besults of the twin pairs (heritability
indexes49-63%). It seems that genetic basis of verbal andspatial abillities
are at least partialy different.

Summary: The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of
preterm birth as the most frequent biological risk factor of development on
temperamental characteristics in infancy. Subjects were 224 infants 6 or 12
months old, of whom 104 were prematurely born and 120 were full-term
infants. Results have shown that mainly there are no differences between
pre-term and full-term infants neither on temperament dimensions nor in the
structure of temperament. Besides, prenatal and perinatal biological
factors, as well as environmental, i.e. socio-demografic factors explained
very small proportion of variance in temperamental characteristics in this
age.
