Summary: Two-dimensional induced gravity as the theory of quantum
gravity.Exploit the exact solvability of two-dim. gravity to
obtaininformation about the structure of residual symmetries inlight-cone
gauge and comparison to conformal gauge results.Understanding of
gravitational dressing of various conformaloperators. Descrption of the
string as a geodesic field in thesence of an alternative description of the
string theory.Extension of the description to the higher dimensional
objectssuch as membranes. Gravitational anomalies as sources
ofgravitational dinamics in two dimensions.
Research goals: Understanding of light-cone gauge structure of the
induced gravity model. Possible avoidance of the region of complex values
of the renormalized Kac-Moody central charge for chiral gravity.
Compatibility of the supersymmetry projection from higher to lower N and
the light-cone gauge condition. Description of string theory as a gauge
field theory. Unique description of the gravitational anomalies in terms of
regularization dependent parameters.
