Title: A new intermetallic phase in the Pd-Pb-As system

Authors:
Matković, Prošper (74890)
Matković, Tanja (73036)
Journal: Journal of Alloys and Compounds
ISSN: 0925-8388
Volume: 202
Year: 1993
Pages: from 107 to 112
Number of references: 12
Language: engleski
Summary: A new ternary compound was identified in the Pd-Pb-As system. ThePd3Pb2As phase crystallizes with an orthorhombic structure in thespace group Cmc21, a=1.1857(2)nm, b=0.6861(1)nm, c=0.5808(1)nm,Z=4, although the crystals show quasi-hexagonal symetry. Thisstructure shows a complex similarity to the NiAs type ofstructure. The palladium atoms are octahedrally coordinated byfour lead and two arsebic atoms; the lead and arsenic atoms are(six) coordinated by palladium atoms in the form of a distortedtrigonal prism. The trigonal prisms are connected by sharingedges to form a framework. The Pd3Pb2As structure was determinedfrom single-crystal X-ray diffraction data and refined byfull-matrix least-squares methods to R=0.073 for 309 reflections.

Journal: Solvent Extraction and Ion Exchange
Number: 3

Volume: 10
Year: 1992
Pages: from 477 to 489
Number of references: 5
Language: engleski
Summary: The extraction of gold(III) by pure IPE and a mixture of IPE-iPafrom aqueous solutions of hydrochloric acid was investigated.Firstly the basic system HCl-H2O-IPE-iPA was examined andidentified as a new system in which the third liquid phaseappears under certain conditions. In the system HCl-H2O-AuCl3-IPE-iPa the influence of initial solvent composition on phase volumes and on the distribution ratio of gold(III) was examinedat two levels of initial acid concentration. It was found thatgold(III) was efficiently extracted from 5 mol.dm-3 solutions ofhydrochloric acid. With alcohol contents between 20 and 50 % vol distribution ratios over 1000 and synergistic enhancement over750 were obtained.
Keywords: solvent extraction, gold(III), synergistic enhancement, mixed solvents, diisopropyl ether, iso-pentyl alcohol

Title: Ion chromatographic analysis of anion from slag elution

Authors:
Cerjan-Stefanović, Štefica (6631)
Rastovčan, Alenka (165876)
Journal: Croatica Chemica Acta
Number: 3
ISSN: 0011-1643
Volume: 66
Year: 1993
Pages: from 1 to 9
Number of references: 23
Language: engleski
Summary: Anions from blast furnace slag significantly influence theenvironment, human health and the stability of the builtstructure in civil engineering. The anions were determined bymeans of ion chromatographic analysis modified from differentrelations of anions in the eluents. The fluoride saturationfactors of the system are experimentally determined andcalculated with the help of distribution coefficient.
Keywords: blast furnace slag, ion chromatographic analysis

Title: The Effect of Temperature on the Formation of the Third Liquid Phase in the System Hydrochloric Acid - Water - Diisopropyl Ether - iso-Pentyl Alcohol

Authors:
Maljković, Dubravka (27761)

Journal: Solvent Extraction and Ion Exchange
Number: 1

Year: 1994
Pages: from 133 to 144
Number of references: 4
Language: engleski
Summary: Extraction systems containing diisopropyl ether (IPE) and high initial hydrochloric acid concentration (higher than 7.1 mol/L) are very sensitive to temperature changes. Small changes (a few degrees centigrade) in working temperature may cause changes not only of the phase volume but also of the number of phases. Results of investigation of the temperature effect over the interval of 15 to 40 C on the volume and number of equilibrated phases in the system hydrochloric acid - water - IPE - iso-pentyl alcohol as well on the distribution of hydrochloric acid are given. The observed effect of temperature is compared to that in systems containing n-pentyl or n-hexyl alcohol as a component of mixed solvent.
Keywords: effect of temperature, third phase, acid extraction, mixed solvent, diisoprpyl ether, iso-pentyl alcohol
