Summary: In the framework of the investigation of separation
solvent extraction of metals with diisopropyl ether (Fe, Ga, Au) and the
commercial extractant Cyanex 272 (Co, Ni) is studied. Special attention is
paid to the systems forming the third liquid phase. Connected with solvent
extraction the leaching of real samples ore, used hard metals) is also
investigated. Owing to improvement of phase/element detectability the
influence of sample preparation on the results of X-ray emission
spectrometry is examined. Radiolytical changes in real and model samples
prepared with different binders are also investigated. The content of
trace metals and their phase composition as well as the microstructure of
ideal and real carbon materials is determined depending on time and
temperature of calcination and graphitation.
Two- and three-component systems of transition elements
in combination with metaloids from the IV, V and VI groups of the
periodical system are studied and their equilibrium diagrams are
investigated.
Research goals: Goal of the investigation, generally, is development
of new procedures for the separation, identification and preparation of
technologicallyimportant materials. With this aim in wiew the following is
expected from the results of investigation: -Improvement of the
processes of leaching and solvent extraction of valuable metals (e.g. Co,
Au) and better possibilities of their recovery from poor sources and waste.
- Contribution to cognitions about complex non-ideal extraction systems
where third liquid phase appears, which are very sensitive to small
temperature changes or show enhancement of extraction (synergistic effect)
under defined conditions. - Improvement of the procedures of sampling,
sample preparation and sample treatment and accordingly, achievement of
better reliability and accuracy of analysis by X-ray emission spectrometry
of metals, non-metals and technologically important materials. -
Determination of detectability of phase/element in polycrystallinic samples
by X-ray diffraction and X-ray emission spectrometry. - New cognitions
about the mechanism or segregation of metal constituents during the
graphitation process which are very important for application of petroleum,
metallurgical and peach cokes as raw materials in graphite production. -
New cognitions about phase transformations and the structure of
alloys as a result of investigations of equilibrium diagrams of metals. -
Development of methods as well as preparation of materials of special
selected microstructural properties.
