Summary: In this project the preparation of a series of carbocyclic
and heterocyclic systems (benzodiazepines, benzimidazoles, diisoxazoles,
dipyrazoles, pyrrolotropones, and other ones) by the action of suitable
reagents on the various mono-,tri- and tetra-ketones is planned. Their
structure and reactivity will be studied;the attention will be focussed on
the photochemical conversions of diisoxazoles and on the electrochemical
reactions of polysubstituted benzenes. The synthesis and resolution of
atropisomeric N-aryl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolinediones and their thio
analogues will be examined.The preparation and the application of the
Schiff bases with coumarin as the analytical reagents will be done.In the
field of metallocenes, ferrocenylfulvenes and 1,1'-ferrocenylenebisfulvenes
will be synthesized, and the stereochemistry of their Diels-Alder products
will be investigated;the preparation and reactivity studies of
omega-ferrocenylaliphatic acids,omega-ferrocylthioaliphatic acids,and of
corresponding bisacids will be undertaken.X-Ray structural analysis of some
of the compounds prepared will be done.The investigations of the growth of
ochratoxin A and of the biosynthesis of aflatoxines in collaboration are
planned.
Research goals: The planned investigations represent continuation of
the works in the fields of polyoxo compounds,carbocycles,heterocycles and
metallocenes,which have been undertaken for years in Laboratory of Organic
Chemistry of Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology.The previously
prepared polyoxo compounds of various structures will be converted to
(fused) carbocyclic and heterocyclic systems.In the field of coumarins a
series of Schiff bases will be synthesized and their stability and
chelating properties investigated.The synthesis and barriers to
racemization of atropisomeric N-aryl-2,4-quinolinedione derivatives and
their thio analogues are to be done. The preparation of ferrocene fulvenes
and the stereochemistry of their Diels-Alder adducts,and the synthesis and
reactivity of omega-ferrocenylaliphatic acids and
omega-ferrocylthioaliphatic acids will be investigated.In the greater part
of these works the fundamental contribution to the chemistry of polyoxo
compounds, carbocycles,heterocycles and metallocenes is expected.The
special attention will be focussed on the stereochemistry,reaction
mechanisms and X-ray studies of metallocenes and some heterocyclic
compounds.This investigations are partly directed to the preparation of the
compounds with potential bioactivity or with the possibility of
application.
