Summary: The conducting polypyrrole chemically synthesized in water, using the variable concentrations of FeCl3 and CuCl2 as oxidizing agents, was chemically and electrochemically characterized and compared with electrochemically generated polypyrrole. According to the results of elemental analysis and counter ion determinations, it can be concluded that a mixture of dimer and trimer was obtained using CuCl2, i.e., a dimer composition using FeCl3 as an oxidant. The differences between cyclic voltammograms of both types of polypyrrole synthesized, were discussed too.

Summary: Poly(vinyl chloride) membrane-based calcium ion-selectiveelectrodes have been constructed, with calcium bis(2-ethylhexyl)phosphate as a sensing material and tetrahydrofuran as solvent.The influence of several plasticizers and conducting substrateson the analytical characteristics of the electrodes was studied.The analytical performances of the electrodes investigated wasstrongly dependent on a suitable combination of plasticizer andconducting substrate.
