Summary: A single differential potentiometric titration method is
described for the determination of sulfuric andalkylbenzenesulfonic acid in
detergent intermediates, both acids were simultaneously titrated with a
standard solution of triethylamine. The determination is based upon a
different strenght of protons from sulfuric and organic acid sausing two
end points in the titration curve. The method is rapid and accurate and is
very useful for routine use because of its simplicity.

Summary: Pyrrole was chemically polimerized in acetonitrile using
iodineand bromine as oxidant and doping agent. The influence of time
ofpolimerization and molar ratio oxidant/pyrrole, as well astemperature of
polymerization, on the conductivity of synthesizedpolymer, were
investigated. The results of investigations show, that besides of
polymerization temperature, the doping agentcontent influences the
conductivity of the polymer obtained.

Summary: Benzethonium chloride (Hyamine 1622) forms an ion
associationwith sodium-dodecylsulfate (SDS) having a mole ratio of
1:1(Hy+:DS-).The sensor alone was dissolved in a mixture ofplasticizer
(o-NPOE), organic solvent (THF) and PVC. Agraphite-PTFE electrode of
Ružička type, a platinum and silverelectrodes have all been coated with a
mixture. The response ofthese electrodes have been examined in
sodium-dodecylsulfate. Theelectrodes showed super-Nernstian response to DS
anion in theregion from 10(-2)-10(-6) moldm (-3) at 25'C. All
electrodesdeveloped have been used as end-point indicator forpotenciometric
titration of several K-sopas using standardHyamine 1622 solution as
titrant. The preliminary results of theinvestigation have been compared to
the results obtained withtwo-phase titration method.

Summary: The determination was based on the ion-pair titration of
carboxylate anions with cationic surfactants. A few sensors were tested for
the end-point detection of potentiometric titration. The synthesis of
sensors, preparation of the electrodes, selection of the conducting
substrates, and composition of the plastic membrane have been investigated.

Summary: Polyaniline has been chemically synthesized using ammonium
peroxodisulphate as oxidant and chloride ion as dopant. The course if
synthesis was followed simultaneously two potentiometric sensors (pH and
redox sensor). The recorded E.m.f.curves offer a deeper insight in the
course of synthesis and contribute to the better understanding of reaction
mechanism.

Summary: The applicability of the calcium ion-selective
graphite-poly(tetrafluoro ethylene) electrode od Ružička type is
demonstrated for the determination of calcium by potentiometry and
potentiometric titration in pure and some real systems. The influence of
different buffer-systems on the shape of titration curves has been
discussed. The analytically useful pH range is 6 to 12. The electrode
provides results agreeing with those obtained with commercially available
electrode and standard method.

Summary: The four different surfactant sensing materials, based
onion-pair associates of benzethonium chloride (Hyamine 1622) and
carboxylate anions (myristate, plamitate, stearate, oleate), have been
synthesized. The sensors were incorporated in PVC membrane mixture and
coated on Ružička-type PTFE electrode as conducting substrate. The
electrode was successfully used as end-point indicator for potentiometric
titration of several Na- soaps solutions using standard Hyamine 1622
solution as titrant.

Summary: The oxidation reaction of D(+)-glucose, catalyzed by the
enzyme glucose-oxydase, as well as the quantity of produced gluconic acid,
have been followed by direct potentiometry and potentiometric titration
method. The optimal conditions for the enzyme action have been established
(enzyme and substrate concentration, pH, temperature, enzyme stability in
water solution, inhibitors). The kinetic constans of the investigating
enzyme have also been determined.

Summary: The quantity of gluconic acid produced by the action of
enzymeglucose oxydase on the D(+)glucose has been detected using
directpotentiometry and potentiometric titration (H+ and Ptelectrodes). The
parameters affecting this enzymatic reactionhave been investigated (enzyme
and substrate concentration, pH,temperature, ionic strength, enzyme
stability in water solution, effect of inhibitors), thus providing optimal
conditions forquantitative, reproducible and sensitive method of
D(+)glucosedetermination in water solutions.

Summary: Direct potentiometry has been used to measure the enzyme
glucosa oxidase (EC 1.1.3.4.) activity from Aspergillus niger and
Hypomyces. Hydrogen ion concentration changes liberated in the course of
reaction have caused potential changes, registrated bz glass/calomel
electrode pair. Enzyme activity has been calculated from particular
reaction phases and expressed as the quantity of hydrogen ion liberated in
pertinent time unit per mg of enzyme preparation. At the very beginning of
the reaction potential changes have been shown to highly correlate with
enzyme activity. Determined enzyme activities have been used to calculate
Michaelis constants and maximal velocities. Direct potentiometry results
have been confirmed bz potentiometric titration.
