Summary: The basic results about biological parameters of demersal
species with continous monitoring of the condition of the population with
more locations are used for gaining results, on how to preserve the
integrity of the natural living riches of the Republic s sea. The main
interest is given to the Nephrops norvegicus species, then to the other
species of the same standpoint, because, already the preliminary results
showed a high interaction of the nephrops with other species, but other
species alsointeracted among each other, either one on top of other or on
the whole biotop. The AREAS OF RESEARCH were: The Velebit channel,
Kvarnerić, Kvarner, the Rjeka bay, the Blitvenica area, the Murter sea.
With this the BASIC SCIENTIFIC DATEBASE is realized, with about 3 000 000
entries, from around 900 square nautic miles and 71 species, and each of
them all in abundance in weight and number, sex and size, the structure of
the population, the changability of the parameters in dependence to the
seasons of the year, catching fish, kinds of fishing, areas, horizontal and
vertical movements of the species, inside them, sex and aged groups, sexual
cycles, areas in which sexual activities are present in certain season, the
age of the earliest sexual maturity, the conduct of certain kinds of fish
catching, the influence of ilumination. THE COMPARAMENT OF THE RESULTS.
Results could not be compared to other results because a similar database
has not been made before for the East coast of the Adriatic sea. Biological
results from Project, in their mutual comparament showed that many
parameters like the season of sexual activity of individual species, the
time of massive changing and the growth of the nephrops, the presence of a
specific, and even the manner of naurishment, differ in every season trough
out the area of the Adriatic sea. The cartography of species by abundance
in mass and number is compared to the last, similar cartography made in
1948. (Karlovac) for the whole Adriatic sea. It established 72 species and
their source was one timed for weight of certain species on certain
location. Trough out the Project the monitoring system was used, the
surface of the research area was smaller and for each of 71 founded
species 1 to 8 parameters were annotated. Cosequently, LONGTIMED CHANGES IN
CONDITIONS OF THE LIVING RESOURCES sach as THE CHANGES IN BIODIVERSITY of
the Adriatic sea could not have been determined by analizing the results of
this project and earlier cartography. HISTOLOGICAL and HISTOCHEMICAL
methods the enzimatic occurments of the nephrops ovary were determined.
The egzogen factors have been folowed and those that inducate the change of
the secretion of the neurohormonal organs have been established. Final
results defined the function of the sexual cycle and the interaction of the
environment on the occurrences. Results from biology showed that abundance
interaction among species and the influence of certain fishing equipment
respecting the configurative characteristics of the shore and the sea bad,
are used for protecting the integrity of the living resours in the MODEL
AREA (the Velebit channel). The result manifested itself during the
duration of the Project: the increase of the average lenth of the
population of the found species in 1991 in average for 40%, the increase of
the entire fishing for an average of 410% and the natural come back of 22
species, so the area today is being densly populated by 49 economicaly
important species and the species Monachus albiventer which is, as a
protected species, a subject of an anather project. On other examined
areas, as a difference to the Model area, the lenth of the population, in
the same time, decreased, averagdy, for 70%, the number of present species
also decreased, and the entre fishing mass totals 1.5% of the mass from the
Model area. The research, about the effect of certain fishing means on the
nephrops showed that the protection of the nephrops and other species is
possible by regulating fishing, such as periodical catch and fishing
absence, the seasonal changes of the fishing locations, the changes of the
fishing means and the selection of the vesells motor strenth. On the basis
of the gaind results a series of proposals has been given to the owners of
the fishing areas (govermental organs). The structure of the project
included carring out the ECOACTION of remuving the ship waste from sea bad
at the depths 30-60 meters..

Research goals: The global purpose of researching the Project was to
protect the autohtone population of decapods of Croatia, as a contribution
to protecting the integrity of the natural riches of the Croatian
Republic and their racional governing during a longer period of time.
During the research it has been expanded to examining the possibility of
protecting the integrity of the total decapods biotop, and with this to
preserve the BIODIVERSITY OF THE COASTAL AREA, as a wortier basis for the
NATIONAL PROSPERITY. Thats how the number of individual purposes is
increased while other purposes are added: establishing the condition of
the biotop in its substance and establishing the biological and the
fisheries characteristics of the species in it, and then following the
maintenance of the changes of the come upon condition. In the same time
using the scientific methods to establish and follow those biological and
agricultural factors that may or have influence on the condition. To
define species of factors to those which are possible to change and to
those on which are cannot make the influence.Present the condition to the
owner and to the beneficiaries of that area and then to propose the
measures which willsecure more purposely the exploatation of the living
resources by protecting and resuming the resources according to the needs.
