Summary: The project gives the scientifically documented answer to
the following dilemma: affiliation to the Variscan or Alpine metallogeny
or to the orogenetic remobilization of the ore occurrences and ore
deposits spatially connected inside the Palaeozoic of the Dinarides in
Croatia, northwestern and central Bosnia. The project try to solve all
earlier open scientific problems for the bigger and more important ore
deposits: paragenesis, geochemistry, tectonic setting, genetic type,
relation to the magmatism, affiliation to the particular magmatic epochs
and to the particular phase of the Vilson cycle. The comparison with
the other Paleozoic regions in Slovenia, northeastern and southeastern
Bosnia and Montenegro gives the conception of the geotectonic evolution
and metallogeny of the whole space of the Dinarides. The results of the
detailed geochemical investigations of the barite and barite-siderite
Hg-tetrahedrite-bearing deposits in the Mid-Bosnian Schist Mountains in
comparison with the geotectonic and geochemical characteristics of the
almost identical genetical types of Hg-bearing tetrahedrite deposits
situated in the Palaeozoic in Brixlegg-Kitzbhel (Tyrol, Austria) and
those in the Palaeozoic of Rudnany (Slovakia) makes possible to support
the hypothesis of the uniformity of the sedimentation space during the
Early and Middle Palaeozoic in the Dinarides and in the Eastern Alps.
Owing to the inadequacy of the financial support (state of war) the
dating using the potassium/argon, strontium isotopes, lead isotopes
methodes have not been utilised. The exact dating is of great significance
for the project. Therefore we are interested to extend the project.
Research goals: The proposed scientific project should give to the
utmost the documented answer to the following dilemma: the ore deposits
situated in the Paleozoic of the Dinarides in the frame of Croatia and
Bosnia were formed in the course of the Palaeozoic time or they belong
partially or completely to the Alpine metallogenic epoch or they are even
orogenetically remobilized during the younger metallogenetic cycle. In
first phase the goal of the investigation is consacrated to the
classification of the ore deposits according to particular phase of the
Vilson cycle:(a) hot spot magmatism and intracontinental rifting, (b)
ocean floor-spreading, (c) ocean floor subduction, (d)
continent-continent-Arc collision, (e) postcollision rifting, (f) Alpine
type of remobilisation. In the second phase the goal is
chronostratigraphical classification to the (a) Caledonian, (b) Hercynian,
(c) Alpine metallogenetic epochs, and (d) Alpine remobilization phase.
The special attention is given to the problem of the world-uncommon
Hg-tetrahedrite type of the ore deposits situated in the Mid-Bosnian
Schist Mountains and their correlation with the almost identical
tetrahedrite deposits in Tyrol (Austria) and Rudnany (Slovakia), both
exclusively situated in the Palaeozoic strata. The solution of their
genesis can help to the conception of the geotectonic evolution in the
Dinarides.
