Summary: Paleozoic sedimentary and low metamorphic rocks of the northern Croatia are systematically investigated in order to reconstruct the stratigraphy, tectonic and genesis of the Sava - Drava interfluve. Research is based upon the analysis of palinomorphs, microfossils and macrofossils, as well as the radiometric dating of the rocks. Environmental conditions are reconstructed from the analysis of the palinofacies, microfacies and lithofacies. The data obtained enable the recognition of the geological events during the Paleozoic in the area between the rivers Sava and Drava , as well as the reconstruction of global events in the wider european realm.

Research goals: 1. Determination of the palinomorphs from the Paleozoic rocks for the first time in northern Croatia. Palinofacies analysis. 2. Paleontological investigations of microfossils and macrofossils. Microfacies analysis. Reconstruction of the fossil communities. 3. Petrographic investigations. Lithofacies analysis. Reconstruction of the rock-forming conditions. Contribution to the knowledge on the metalogenesis of the uranian, graphite etc. from the semimetamorphic rocks of Slavonia. 4. Determination and correlation of the geological and isotopic age of the rocks. 5. Paleogeographic reconstructions . 6. Synthesis of the geological events in the area investigated in time and space. 7. Correlation with the neighbouring realms.
